iPhone call history shared between devices after iOS 17 Update

on my primary device I have iCloud -> contacts turned off, also handoff is turned off on both devices.

Before iOS 17.0, each of my 2 devices has its private call log & contacts.

After iOS 17.0 on both devices, I started to see the call history of both devices on my primary device.

Since the update, I have attempted all the techniques to stop the call log from my husband's phone appearing on my phone. It is very annoying not to be able to look at your previous calls to determine who called you instantly without questioning whether the number called you or your husband. I hope that Apple listens and is able to correct whatever was turned on or at least allow us to disable call logs from other devices.

Yes but the thing is, I can own 2 iphones, one private and one for business. I don't want them to share Call history but I have the right to use my apps and other thing on both of them since I am the owner.

You are the owner of the physical device. You do not, however, own any of the software on it. You only have a license to use iOS. And, as the owner, Apple retains the right to make changes. You can be okay with that or hate it, but it remains an established legal precedent.

If you want to share apps across two phones but do not want to share personal data, create a second Apple ID and set up Family Sharing. Using your personal Apple ID for business purposes has all sorts of downsides.

This behaviour was introduced with iOS 17. Of course Apple can make changes. And wishing they keep doing so. At the end, we the clients are the purpose of Apple existence, nothing else. If they don't hear us and I bet

they do, they will lose clients. Some of them already state they'll change for Android. I won't but that's my choice.

I did the temporary workaround of creating a second ID but it's a nonsense. Not

logical at all.

People have been complaining about this particular issue for well over a year, probably longer. But the point isn't when it happened. The point is that because Apple doesn't support the sharing of Apple IDs, they do not take that into consideration when they make other changes. With every update in iOS, some workaround that made it feasible to share Apple IDs breaks.

Me neither. And all other users don’t even acknoledge that if me, myself and I are not a family. I as one person do not want to pay for the family use of Apple Music. The argument that Apple does not want sharing is absolute nonsense. As Apple even indicates this option as a uniques selling point for their AirPods. Easy to use on all devices with the same Apple ID.

This feature can be seen either way from one hand it looks like a breach of privacy on the other hand it's looking like an enhanced privacy feature because you have total control on all your devices. The problem is you can't toggle it off, so you are nor really in control of it, surely not on how two different phone numbers can be linked to each other without your consent which could create a privacy problem. This matter might even have different interpretation in different countries. It's also true that you can easily avoid it using two different Apple ID accounts. The problem persists anyway in my opinion

Nope. When you use the same Apple ID on more than one device, it cannot be a privacy problem. The person who is using the same Apple ID is permitting the sharing of data between devices, which includes call logs and voicemail. If somehow call logs/voicemail was appearing on two phones NOT using the same Apple ID, that would most indeed a privacy concern.

It the same topic, I own numerous Apple devices, all using my apple ID.

If I am doing personal banking on one device thinking that the data is safe on that device, and not being synchronized on all devices, then IMO thats a concern with what the original topic was started about. The topic is the uncontrolled synchronization of data.

I am not a computer geek by any means, so if Apple is changing things in the background that we as users cannot control. I am inclined to log out of my ID on every other device.

I did not say two iphones, I said devices, mac, ipad, apple tv, etc. So as per this topic argument, all users should have a different ID for every device they own, than whats the point in owning apple products anymore.

It seems to me that apple’s latest choice to sync data between all devices uncontrolled by the user. So do all households go to one Apple device going forward?

After reading that article I did not think a security breach like that was even possible. So family sharing functionality of the ID is at risk as well.

Not at all. I have an iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, MacBook Pro. All with the same Apple ID. I can do banking on any of those devices, because they are mine and I expect my data to be accessible on all of them.

You're taking this off on another topic altogether. This thread is because people who are sharing the same Apple ID on two iPhones (regardless of why they are) are seeing their call logs and voicemail messages on both devices.

I'd suggest you stay on topic because your banking analogy has nothing to do with this thread. But if you are concerned about your banking data being accessible on your two iPhones, then you shouldn't use the same Apple ID on both iPhones. Still, that's a completely different topic.
