Share contact info needs to limit what is shared

The “me” contact that Apple recognizes as who I am includes a lot of info that I don’t want to share when I share contact. How do I make a “share contact” that only includes whatever name and contact information that I want to share?

I just edited my contact photo and poster and edited the name to only my first name. But when I look at the rest of the contact info it appears that my emails would be included, my address, my medical, my notes … all things I do NOT want to share.

You haven't mentioned which device you have or version of iOS you have if your device is an iPhone or iPad.

From iOS 16 Apple added a step when sharing a contact card. After you touch on 'Share Contact' you will see a list of fields and this screen is asking which of these fields you want to share in the card that is being sent by email, messages, or other methods. You can choose to add or remove individual fields and this can be done by adding or removing the tick in the circle on the left beside each field.

This has to be done each time you share a contact as the app does not remember these choices.

I can't see that this can be done from Contacts on a Mac.

If you share your contact card regularly it might well be easier to create a new contact for yourself with just the basics that you want to share and not have to edit these choices when you forward it.

This is iOS 17, sharing my contact info from my iPhone. I did create a new contact for sharing, but that now has to be the “me” in my contact list in order to share.

I saw that when you share, it shows your phone number as well as your poster, and there’s a way to pull up a menu and unclick those things you do not want shared. I have yet to test that with a trusted person.
