This is not unusual for the first few days after a software update. Loading the new version and showing you a working device is only the first step, there are a whole load of behind-the-scenes processes to clean up the old system files and reindex the file system. Expect normal battery life to resume after a day or two.

I have been using my S4 with no trouble for almost five years. The battery easily lasts me a whole day including tracking workouts. Yesterday, the watch upgraded to os version 10, and now the battery is draining completely within a few hours. Did they just force me to buy a new watch? Will the battery stop draining after it adjusts to the new os? Or is there some way to revert to the previous version? For now, I’ll wait and hope it’s just re-indexing or something.

My Watch s7 has drained 100% to 40% in three hours of normal use since I upgraded to WatchOS 10. Unfortunately, it is likely not going to make it to the end of my shift at 5 pm.

All the apps are up to date, I have restarted it, and I have re-synced my Watch but that made no difference in battery performance.

Hoping Apple can fix this sooner than later.

I am having the same issue with my AW8. I normally walk for 6 miles and listen to podcasts while doing so. When finished, battery is normally 70-72%. Last two days, after the update, it is at 50%. Will continue to check, but the watch is barely making it through the day, which was never an issue. That said, I love the watch, and the podcast interface after the update is an improvement, except for volume control, which is now very inconveniently accessed, or I haven't figured it out.

I’ve done the power off /restart routine and I’ve been watching (excuse the pun) the battery down 10% every hour since the restart. That’s without any activity recording. The math suggests that’s a 12-hour battery life with no activity- compared to about 18 hours I was getting before the upgrade including at least an hour activity recording daily. Shocking.

Update, my watch clearly does not make it 24 hours. It takes three plus hours to charge now and barely makes it 15 hours. I really hope they make an update to resolve this issue. This watch is unusable to me as I bought it for actual outdoors remote camping. I travel to the mountains of NC with no signal and will use GPS. I cannot imagine the battery life when I actually use it as intended. Already starting to look at Garmin replacements.
