Blink security app - notification sound changed since IOS 17 update

Same issue and if I would have known this update could affect the alerts for my safety and knowing who’s on my property I would have bought either a different brand of phone or a different brand of security cameras.

I was really excited about my blink doorbell, but it is absolutely pointless with my iPhone as it currently is. Personally I wish it behaved more like a long phone ring notification at full volume. A near silent short ping is less than useless.

After updating my iPhone the tone for my Blink security changed to a mild sound I would not be able to hear with any other sound going on. For instance if the TV was on, I would never be able to hear the sound. Why do they just continue to change stuff instead of letting us make our own decision of what sound we would like to recognize if something was happening? And a lot of the upgrades or updates be worse than what you already had!

I have an Iphone 8 and an ipad 9.7. I get the alert noise for a Blink camera being tripped on the pad not on the phone. Both devices are updated to 16.7.2 The finger pointing is beneath contempt on Apples and Amazon part. Cut the finger pointing and fix it guys!! Grrrrrrrrr. :(

Sounds like we all have the same issue with Blink, after downloading the new iOS I lost my normal Blink alert! I went to the Verizon store and they just looked like I was crazy, I live alone and rely on Blink security. This little quiet ding is not going to work....Hey Apple, what's the deal????

From Blink, We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience the system created, and we are aware of how frustrating and disappointing this entire process has been.

Unfortunately, we don't have any access and further information about iOS features and software issues, we would suggest you call Apple support and have them , this is BS I hope everyone drops service with them

Hello ~ Who’s upset? Do you have something technical to add here? Telling someone to start their own thread is a way for their question or concerns to be viewed by others that can be of help. Burying it in this thread will not have it addressed properly.

Hello again ~ No doubt!! Problems there aplenty and if I didn’t have so many of Blink’s cameras I would have given them the boot long ago. I have been carrying two iPhones because of this. Now I can give my trusty little iPhone SE 1st gen a much deserved rest. Anyway I am glad it’s settled.

It’s simply back to how it was. All the apps that use the default notification sound are now audible if you choose a loud sound. We really need the option of using our own sounds for each app. I’ve left feed back on the Apple site asking for this option.

Hello~ As omniscience as you seem to think Apple may be…they can’t force a business to really do anything at all. What do you want them to do ? Remove the App from the App Store? Can you just imagine the uproar that would cause?? Be careful what you wish for. This now is in the hands of Blink. I am just grateful I can hear my notification now. I have a large investment in this Blink system and until it becomes untenable for me I will stick with it. Looking elsewhere though.

I have 26 blink camera and 5 controller. I was with blink since very beginning. I would not hesitate to move away if Amazon keeps messing blink up by hiring dumb unqualified people. Since Amazon took over, it is only going down. I am already in the process of transition to have two system and get rid of blink if the mess continues. Its a free market and they choose to die

Do you really think that’s the case? Of course Apple can make the third party devs choose notification sounds. This is way down the list of importance and hoops the devs have to jump through already. EVERY app should have the option for the end user to choose their own sound.

Despite what you may think, Apple doesn't exercise that level of control over third-party developers. What would be the benefit to Apple to do so?

I’m really disgusted with it all now since September and 3 updates. After the second update, somehow I got my original loud alert back . Then this last update, camera sounds are back to a low tone. While I was away from my cameras, with no alert sound that could be heard to warn me, a fire broke out on my property and because of no loud alerts, 3 of my 10 blink cameras that were in this area, my outside barn with my grandson’s keepsakes burned to the ground. I’m going to stop using blink and as soon as I can afford to , I will be changing phones. I just don’t get it, for a month after the second update, I had my tones back, and the. The 3rd update, very low tone, so low I was in my kitchen and could not be alerted to this fire on my property. This is unacceptable!!! What is next? Someone breaking in and no time to protect myself because of this darn low sound.
