Blink security app - notification sound changed since IOS 17 update

I just updated my iPhone 13 to IOS 17. Since the update the Blink security app notification sound changed and now is very quiet. I went to Settings/Notifications/Blink and the only option is Sounds with an on/off button - no way to change sound or increase volume.

I notified Blink and their Customer Support said to contact Apple. I told them this is not my singular problem but is a Blink problem. No go, they keep pointing at Apple.

Looks like we have a circular firing squad...

Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

My specific problem has been that since upgrading to IOS 17, ALL of my app notification sounds changed to a short, low volume "blip" sound, not just Blink. Today, after trying to change a few settings, all my notification sounds returned, and Blink now sounds like a more substantial "beh-roop" sound (kinda like a thick liquid drop). Not exactly sure what specifically fixed the problem, but here's what I did in case you wanted to try.

I double checked all the usual suspect Notifications and Sounds & Haptics settings to make sure they were set correctly and found nothing wrong. Then in Sounds & Haptics, I changed the ring tones for Text Tone and New Mail, and then set them back to default in order to test the ringtones and hopefully reset them. Then I went into Notifications and into the various individual apps whose notification sounds were not working correctly and changed their tones and then set them all back to default. I think the last app I changed was the Mail (Safari) app's sound under Notification, Customize Notifications, selected my mail provider's account name under Accounts, and noticed my Alerts setting was toggled off and I toggled that back on. Within a few minutes I received both an email and Blink notification that sounded normal. Again, I'm not sure what specifically fixed the problem, but in my case, it seems it may have been resetting the apps whose notifications were sounding distorted and turning on the Mail app's Alert on-off toggle that had been turned off during the IOS 17 install.

Your mileage may vary.... Good luck.

We all bought the blink cameras for our security, especially at night. I have 5 cameras that now are useless at night when sleeping. I can’t hear the notification to wake me. If this issue is not resolved someone may be hurt, seriously injured or worst. You know lawyers would jump to chance to sue Blink due to their failure to keep notifications sound loud. Please resolve this issue for peace of mind at night.

Emailed Blink my complaint telling them I alone cannot tell Apple to fix this and Blink can! Told them they can sell their product taking our money but now they don’t give a rats ***. They emailed me back saying it’s not their problem. I then emailed back saying that I hope they all still have their jobs in six months because nobody will be buying their product!!!!!

Thank you very much for this. I think it will wake me even better than the old sound did. I just set it up & it's working. Have not updated my iPad and will not until this gets resolved. The iPad is good at home, but at work I use my iPad on my console wifi which is not connected to the internet. My apple watch does alert me at work tho. I never wear my watch when I sleep, so having Siri announce my camera notifications is awesome!

I'm very appreciative of everyone making comments here. Thanks all <3!

This issue will solved and this thread will pass into oblivion but you may just have the answer to many other’s questions especially someone else who may be dyslexic. I have a close family member who is as well. Just consider it? You hang in there as well. 😃😃

⚠️ URGENT WARNING TO ALL iPHONE USERS ⚠️

ATTENTION! If you’ve recently updated to iOS 17, you need to hear this. Apple has introduced a new feature called “NameDrop,” and it’s a massive privacy concern. By default, it’s set to ON, and here’s the alarming part: it allows your phone to share your contacts and photos with ANY nearby device — yes, even with those belonging to strangers.

This isn’t just a minor oversight; it’s a significant breach of your personal data security. What’s the point of a security system, like Blink, if it’s compromised by such a feature? It’s unacceptable that Apple would implement such a feature without clear consent and adequate warning to its users.

Here’s how you can protect yourself: Go to Settings General / AirDrop / Bringing Devices Together and TURN IT OFF immediately. Do not delay; your personal information could be at risk.

Apple, this is a serious misstep in respecting user privacy. We deserve better.
