AirPods Max Won't Connect despite showing up in my Bluetooth devices (Solutions Found!)
This issue starts occurring after having one side of the AirPods Max replaced by Apple after having other issues a year ago. Obviously this is causing a lot of issues when being recognised by my devices.
Out of the blue, randomly, they would stop working, cannot be connected to any of my iPads, iPhones or MacBooks. They stayed that way and I had to take them to the Genius Bar, and the solution is to have them completely replaced and pay an exorbitant fee. Obviously, I didn't opt for it because it's just not worth it. However, I've since found 2 solutions for this issue and I specifically created an account to share with the community, and hopefully, one day Apple sees this too.
- To get them play sound again, simply drain the battery to 0%. Make sure the orange light is off too so it's completely drained. Then, charge up the headphones and then they will pair up again without an issue. Magic.
- If the above doesn't work, and that you can't get the flashing white light to flash to re-pair with your device, simply hold down both buttons at the same time. After a few seconds, try to pair again. If it doesn't work, repeat until you can. Randomly, my iPhone would recognise the headphones and connect without issue.
I suspect the root cause of the connectivity issue is due to that fact that the OS inside the AirPods Max cannot properly recognise both sides of the headphones after getting one of them replaced a year ago. I know this because of 2 symptoms, 1, mine is black but would show up as white when re-pairing to my iPhone but would show as black after a while, 2, they would show as 2 separate AirPods Max in my control centre and I could control both volume separately.
