How to watch 'fullscreen' video on half the screen?

I want to watch YouTube videos in 'fullscreen' mode (to get rid of all the other stuff on the page), but on only half the screen so I can view another document at the same time alongside. I'm using Safari and MacOS Ventura

I understand how to use split screen, but when you click the fullscreen icon on the YouTube video, the video expands over both windows, rather than just expanding to fill one half of the monitor.

Is there a way to activate 'fullscreen' video but have it only occupy one half of the screen?

You can try "Theater Mode" in youtube.

Not exactly full screen, but removes the sidebars; and then full screen in half the screen would either distort the image, crop it, or leave a lot of empty space, anyway (unless you are watching those darned vertical videos...)

You maybe able to switch from 1 Desktop in Full Screen Mode to a second Desktop also in Full Screen Mode by using the Information in this Apple Support Document
