Your apple pencil does not work with you new ios 17 software.

Hi guys,

So it seems that the Apple Pencil [Gen 2] that I have is not working with any of the 17.0 and after updates on my M1 iPad Pro 12.9”.

It has been bugging out for some time and i even thought it was the nib.

Now it is not even pairing after the update 17.3.

This is a software issue from what it looks like?

Hopefully they can fix it soon.

I have an IPad mini 5 and an Apple Pencil 1st gen. I recently got a new tip for my Apple Pencil because my old one wasn’t working but ever since I got the iOS 17 updates my Apple Pencil hasn’t been working, it doesn’t even connect to my iPad anymore no matter what I try. I’ve been scrolling through these conversations for 2 days now and I can’t find anything for my iPad. I’m hesitant to contact Apple so I’m looking here before I resort to that. Any advice?

After all the upgrades my apple pencil 2 does not work with my ipad pro 11, unlike before, there was no problem using it. I unpaired all my bluetooth devices and reconnected to my wifi, but nothing. When the bluetooth is off, and i connect my pencil to the magnetic connection, there is a prompt to “tap to connect” but nothing happens after tapping. When i remove the pencil and replace it while bluetooth is on, the “tap to reconnect” prompt does not appear, just apple pencil.

what if it still doesn't connect? mine shows the "Apple Pencil" message on the top of the screen for a few seconds and then disappears. I can't even see the device on the bluetooth settings. what should I do?

it’s April 10th 2024, just updated my iPad Air 4th gen to iOS 17.4.1 wishing my Apple Pencil would now work. But with no luck, it’s connecting for a few seconds then would disconnect again. I tried turning off my bluetooth unpairing and then pairing again my pencil 2, 100% charged but still no lock. i do hope Apple would fix this problem. it’ll just make the pencil disposable.

I am very disappointed my apple pencil gen 2 doesn’t work in my ipad air 4th generation i tried different pencils gen 2 they won’t work or appear in bluetooth list and they work in other ipad same model as mine but ios is 17.1 and mine is 17.5 and updated to 17.5.1 still not showing or working on my i pad i tried everything and all Solutions suggested here nothing work for me i am very upset and frustrated this is my first time facing this kind of issues. Is this going to be solved anytime soon???…

looking at the dates of everyone’s post and I’m wondering if there are still issues with the software as I just bought an IPad 12.9 6th gen and a Apple Pencil pro 2nd gen and its not connecting. And it’s brand new. I have 17.5.1 software on iPad. Is there still an issue with this connection? This is a joke, I’ve just bought it!!

So I can’t ask what gen of iPad this happens to? That’s not a poll. That’s trying to find out the problem.

Asking anyone who sees this post to post what kind of iPad they have and if their Pencil is working, or not, with such iPad model, is a form a polling.

So how can we get this solved if I’m not able to ask who are caused by this issue?

I have tried the above. My warranty is not valid anymore so I don’t think the Apple support will help me.

I have done all expect the Appel support. Since I don’t have any warranty left I assume they won’t help me.

I am running iPad OS 17.0.3 on an iPad Pro 12.9 5th Gen and have the exact same problem since 17.0.2

I jinxed it! Since I wrote how great it was working it started acting up again. I'll contact the support when I'm back in Sweden.
