So the NYT app needed -update really needed me never to read the NYT again on my iphone. Talk about forced obsolescence!

The iPhone 7 doesn't support iOS 17.
You will need an iPhone XR or later.
Others:
For iOS 16 you will need an iPhone 8 or later
For iOS 13-15 you will need an iPhone 6s or later
For iOS 12 you will need an iPhone 5s or later (excluding 5c)
For iOS 10/11 you will need an iPhone 5 or later
For iOS 8/9 you will need an iPhone 4s or later
For iOS 7 you will need an iPhone 4 or later
For iOS 5/6 you will need an iPhone 3GS or later
For iOS 4 you will need an iPhone 3G or later.
For iOS 3 (iPhoneOS 3 that time) The original iPhone (iPhone 2G) can support it.

I’m unable use Gpay now
Because the developers at Gpay have decided to no longer support the iPhone 7.
I do need to update my I phone 7plus, but it doesn’t give an answer

You cannot.
- iPhone 7 can update as far as iOS 15 – but no further. No iOS 16 or 17 for iPhone 7.
- iPhone 8 can update as far as iOS 16 – but no further. No iOS 17 for iPhone 8.
