Memojis disappeared after iOS 17 upgrade

what planet do Apple developers live on? They did the same thing in watchOS10 and changed a perfectly fine button function now open a control center that nobody uses, at the expense of my most frequently used apps!

I have read through all replies and I have the same issue as the first post. I have version 17.0.3 and still my Memojis are not there. They are not with the + in apps nor when I click on more nor where they used to be next to my frequently used. Anyone know how to get them back?

😶 Smiley face icon? That is not appearing for me … what is called “Memoji” in the list that appears is nothing like what I had and I miss them! The others are, as singlefisch55 said, clunky and completely different in intent. Useful for “pre-done” responses like Bitmoji but kind of across-the-board juvenile … and the images are harsh! I miss my Memojis!

I went through everything myself five times (minimum) but I was too frantic by then to investigate stickers in depth 🙃. I was able to locate the app in the App Store, however, it did not allow me to download to my iPhone 14. It advise me to download it to the iWatch. But once i did it did not do anything else. I need my memoji Apple. Please fix this bug.

I am updated to ios17.0.3 and my icon drawer is still missing. I do not understand how to use the NEW icon list in messages. I wanted to send a talking Memjoi but don't understand how to send now. It is much to difficult!!!! I want my icon drawer back!!!

After iOS 17 everything is ridiculously hard to locate. The Memojis and other items that used to run along the bottom of the text screen are now in another location and it is not user friendly. Please bring back the way it was. Why do you have to change everything each time you update? Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke.

Why do you have to change everything each time you update? Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke.

I suspect lots of people complained about the way it used to be. Apple is never going to be able to please everyone all at the same time.

I “get” the need to upgrade the iOS. Truly, I do.

BUT WHAT I DON’T GET is the constant need by Apple, Microsoft and others, to rearrange (or hide) stuff from where it used to be, OR CHANGE THE SETTINGS I HUNTED DOWN BEFORE, in order to customize settings to my liking.

Apple: Sure, give is iOS 18. BUT LEAVE MY SETTINGS ALONE! I don’t want to have to FIND, THEN HIDE my location (AGAIN) from advertisers, if you’ve created something cute like Memojis, DON’T make me have to go to a discussion board like this one to find out where they are…BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO LEGITIMATE REASON TO CHANGE THAT SETTING IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Protect us, yes. But don’t drive us crazy every time one of your developers gets an itch!

One reason is that they look at the feedback they get and the usage data sent from the devices. It's quite possible that lots of people weren't happy with the way things were/and or didn't really use certain features.

I had the same issue with the emoji's being gone but my issue is I had personalized my emoji and it won't let me do that any longer. I can select the one person emoji I want to modify but it won't let me.

You don't know that, out of all the people with iPhones, most are unhappy. The people who post here are a self-selected sample. People who are happy or don't care don't generally take the trouble to log into a forum, find a thread, and say, "Yeah, it changed. I don't care," or "Yeah, it changed. I really like it".

No one here in this user-to-user forum knows precisely why Apple does what they do unless they tell us. However, indications are that lots of people were confused by how apps worked in iMessage, and the whole thing never took off the way Apple had hoped. Apple has access to a lot of user data. Unless you opt out, your phone sends anonymized data on how you're using the phone. Combine that with the rest of the millions of people whose data is being collected, and I bet Apple has a pretty good sense of how most people use the phone.

It's not necessary to justify your preferences. Even if no one else shares them, if you hate the change, you hate the change.

Hi, I followed your instructions, but it says I have no stickers and all the work I went through to shape my very cool Memoji self has disappeared. I used the Memoji’s every day to personalize my responses. This was such a great addition they provided a few years ago and they made a really BIG deal out of offering this when the X iPhone was a launched. Now, they take it away without a peep.

It seems very strange to remove something that was such a sales/marketing pitch when the X phone was launched . All my friends use them as well and are equally upset about this subtraction!

It really seems that the specific issues vary with the iPhone models, though ALL have been inconvenienced. Those with the latest, pricey models, with more that can go wrong, I would be in Apple’s face.

iPhone 15 Pro. Other than the issues with the custom text tones which was resolved with iOS 17.1, I've had no issues. iOS 17 and my iPhone 15 Pro have been fantastic. I'm incredibly impressed with the battery life. And, with a little poking around, I was able to figure out where the Memoji went.
