Memojis disappeared after iOS 17 upgrade

I just upgraded to iOS 17 and now my memojis have all disappeared. I checked for how to get them back and found a process that involves the App Store button that SHOULD be next to a camera icon when I open my messages app. Neither the camera nor the App Store icon appears. Without these, I can't proceed to the next steps. I tried looking in Settings to see if I just needed to enable a keyboard, but there was nothing there to enable.

I downloaded a memoji keyboard from the App store, but it's clunky to use - not seamless like the memojis I used to have. How can I get them back?

In new message hit happy face icon by the space bar, Hit "show Stickers", scroll action bar at the top to the right, hit memoji icon and the personalized faces show up. Very complicated compared to the old way. Liked that much better.

Just found the answer Champ and it’s more simple than that, thank goodness. Simply press the plus sign next to your message box and it’ll bring up a bunch of added message options. One of them is “STICKERS”. Select it and BAM, all of your emojis and stuff will be there. It’s actually the same process you have to use to send GIFs now. Hope this helps….

You sound Hurt. The update came for “ME” a couple days ago as I assume it did for the others who are “just now” asking about it so your 24 days ago September 21st post on this issue where you proudly posted the answer 1st understandably has gone unnoticed. Who’s going back 24 pages? Your faith should be lost in the algorithm that doesn’t direct us who are “now” looking for the answer to your post. Lots of people know what a square root is and the explanation is in millions of books around the world but the fact is champ, if you don’t know where to find the book and no one points it out to you then you’re gonna go around asking people over and over what it is until it’s eventually put right in front of your face. You may have answered the question but if we never see it then it doesn’t help us. The more the correct answer gets posted the better the chances people will run across it. I have 9 replies right now that I’ll post that same answer to and hopefully it’ll get out there. It’s just how this thing works Champ. Appreciate it though. Hopefully more people will see your solution….

Glad it helped. Now , I also need a favor. Could you re-post a version of that answer? I just got a notification from Apple saying they struck down the post because I posted the same info. more than once. Multiple people had the same problem so I copy-pasted the answer to a couple more people (literally 2😂) and they blocked me after that. Crazy. I’d appreciate it and hopefully everyone runs across the solution because it’s so annoying. Thanks in advance champ….

Reposting what helped me the most (from MASAIAH504) and me.

Simply press the plus sign next to your message box and it’ll bring up a bunch of added message options. One of them is “STICKERS”. Select it and BAM, all of your emojis and stuff will be there. It’s actually the same process you have to use to send GIFs now. ….. once you choose stickers, across the top, you choose which type of stickers. When you go to Memoji, all of the images are there, not just the one where you can record just the facial movement one in the other section.

I was relieved to see that this was an issue for so many and that I wasn’t losing my mind or eyesight. With help of threads was able to find my MeEmojis. Start a new text to yourself. Hit plus sign to left of white box that you type text message in and then hit sticker and edit or done. If do not see emoji find one first and after first time it will save in history when hit sticker. Slower but works

I read all of the above, then tapped around, 1) Opened a new text message; 2) selected the + key at bottom left; 3) selected MORE (well below STICKIES); then further down to MEMOJI … where I found ONE and only option of my Memoji, versus the multiple that were available before. IMO this is NOT an improvement for two major reasons: difficult to use 3-5 clicks, and only one emotion to convey. So ,,,, why did the KEEP the kazillion other little dinky stickers? Make our Memoji easy to use and the dinky stickers click-centric.

After reading countless posts regarding this issue, I found one post which works. Press the (+) on the left of a typical text message. The 3rd choice from the top is "Stickers". A band of icons will show up at the top. Scroll right until you see a girl or face emoji. Click on it. Then click on your Memoji face and there should be a drop down of your Memoji icons. Once you use one within a text, the next time you go to the (+) and tap on the Memoji icon, you should see all the Memojis icons. It took me a long time and a lot of trial and error but I finally figured it out. I hope it works for you. Don't give up. You will figure it out.

Open up a text message. Click the (+) on the left side of the text box. 3rd word down is "stickers". Tap on stickers. At the top there are a line of small icons. Find the one of the face. Click on it. Your Memojis will be there. Once you use one, they will all show up but you must do those 3 steps. It took me a lot of research, trial and error but I found them.
