Memojis disappeared after iOS 17 upgrade

Mine didn’t come back.

Nor are there any options to get them and the 🆕 in the App Store are not as nice as they used to be - and the ones on my iPhone look like they should be from the 1980s they’re not nearly as nice as they used to be

I am going to go back to LG Phoenix 2. Yes its Older but Its easier to handle now. I was an AVID APPLE Supporter, However with this DEBACLE ( if it aint broke DONT FIX IT) I am going to wean my self away from Apple. When my Ph is paid off I am outta here 'kept for my Mac. I have stopped Updates there. I refuse to update to the Next Platform. I am Still using Monterey and and VERY Happy Thank YOU!

I tried to click the + symbol to retrieve my memojis but it just says no recent stickers. Guess all my Memojis are gone forever. Also why did they mess with how my Apple Watch works? I’m getting too old to keep learning new things. All my settings are now different and I can’t even swipe to see how much battery power I have or how to ring my phone when I misplace it! Now it’s asking me if I really want to do things, but the text is so small I can barely read it. Very infuriating!

I also clicked the + button, and the only custom Memojis were the ones I had recently used, not all of them. This is not the first time this happened after an update. Just like the last time, I always have to re-create my Memoji 🫤

I just wanna say, i like that Apple provides us a built-in memoji and camera feature, we don’t have to download a separate memoji app like an android user. Every now and then after an upgrade, my custom Memojis are gone. I don’t know why, but I never can find them again, even after trying the various methods that are suggested. Oh well, I always just make new ones. It’s still better to have the built-in feature than to download an extra app!

This was helpful. Thank you. I just tested it and found that the one I just used as a test stored. I guess it will store "frequently used" It was so easy the other way. Thank you for posting a solution.

I’ve tried everything, including going to my stickers and can’t use my Memojis anymore. I clicked on the Memoji app and I found my Avatar, but there’s a record button now and none of the other Memoji choices like heart sign or winking, etc. So it’s useless. It’s not the end of the world, but it would have been nice to keep them and not have them deleted unnecessarily because of a stupid update.

These are not memoji's they are just emoji's. Plus bar does not show the little memojis that i made to look like me, only the animals that will talk like me if i want them to. Very irritating that they removed this, that was one of my favorite ways to quick reply. Is there a way to add those to the stickers location, it's very strange why they did this.

Apple knows this happened to all of us. Yet they did nothing to remedy it immediately. Someone actually got paid to take out everyone’s Memojis without a quick fix.

Apple still has not responded as to why they did this.

Graham you’re so patient and so nice. Just wanted to say thanks. Your instructions worked perfectly for me, except that my Memojis were gone and I got a baldheaded me that I needed to redo. It’s too bad they don’t have them look more like us like Bitmoji.

Has ANYONE updated to teh new 17.2? If so what happened. Since this Debacle with the Memojis / Emoji's being scattered I have shut down My automatic Update on my ph! I do not trust Apple with the Updates any longer.

Same here! Where did they go? It’s driving me nuts. I’m looking for my avatars not the emojis or Memoji I found those. I created one of me one time and then it gave me all the fun ones. Now they are gone.

How about you just add to it instead of deleting stuff. Listen to the customers, we buy your product because we like it. So if we don’t like prob not gonna buy it in the future-just saying. And rude to say you can’t please everyone, you don’t have to be a grinch.
