Memojis disappeared after iOS 17 upgrade

I just upgraded to iOS 17 and now my memojis have all disappeared. I checked for how to get them back and found a process that involves the App Store button that SHOULD be next to a camera icon when I open my messages app. Neither the camera nor the App Store icon appears. Without these, I can't proceed to the next steps. I tried looking in Settings to see if I just needed to enable a keyboard, but there was nothing there to enable.

I downloaded a memoji keyboard from the App store, but it's clunky to use - not seamless like the memojis I used to have. How can I get them back?

In new message hit happy face icon by the space bar, Hit "show Stickers", scroll action bar at the top to the right, hit memoji icon and the personalized faces show up. Very complicated compared to the old way. Liked that much better.

Hi,

  1. The emojis/stickers are still there in Messages. It does appear to look different. See the + sign on the lower left bottom side? Tap it. A menu appears with a long list and STICKERS is there. Select Stickers by touching it and all the emoji/stickers show up in a row! When you create your own stickers from photos, they will be under the row of emoji stickers.
  2. Article regarding HOW TO FIX iOS 17 LIVE STICKERS NOT WORKING ON iPHONE:https://techyorker.com/how-to-fix-ios-17-live-stickers-not-working-on-iphone/

I hope these are helpful for you! Again, your regular stickers should be available to you in messages, on the far left bottom corner. Look for the plus sign (+) and tap it to get to the menu. Select Stickers and they are in a row!

Best regards!

TRY THIS

#1

now, since you already pushed that + don’t push it now but other people that are in this discussion can push it and your emojis and stuff should be there, sometimes I don’t know the name so I’m using pictures and I’m not gonna fix all these voice corrections just some of them🙂

Ok marijke182, push inside the box to bring up the keyboard

#2

push the😀next to the space bar…

#3

push the sticker icon between the girl with blonde hair and the red apple the grayed-out symbol…

#4

now, right above the thumb and to the right are the oval icons I was talking about now scroll to the right. Mine was in the middle, and it still is and all my Memojis and stickers and everything I made are also on the left now, so I guess that never disappears and mine looks like this…

👇👇

#5 or 6👆👆👆 push the one showing with the hearts it usually has that position but sometimes that will change it’s not always hearts ❤️ ❤️but 99% of the time it is but you should know your own icons?

I Hope it works. Let me know. 🤞

PS. You have to be in the English keyboard!! I mentioned I have a lot of keyboards, but you have to be in the default English keyboard, and if you speak a different language, pick the keyboard of your language, and it should be the same as English, but in your language and sometimes when you push the steps, it will go out of that keyboard, so just make sure you’re in your default keyboard, which should be your language. Mine is English. That’s the one you start off with before you add other ones.

and don’t forget to touch the pictures to expand them if you don’t see what I’m talking about because the picture is not showing it touch it move it around. It’s in there they were bigger, but APPLE only lets certain size in so I made it where you can still see everything I’m talking about. It’s really simple, you do it all the time when you’re making messages 😎👍👋

I had a PS. after 🤞 and when something like this…

I Hope it works. Let me know.🤞

PS. I mentioned in a previous message that I have a lot of keyboards and you have to be in the default, English keyboard or the default of your language like when you set up your iPhone otherwise the icons won’t be there!!!

and if you have to, just use the English keyboard anyway, and just follow the pictures🤔🤨1-5 etc. And see why the glitch is there in a first place and why APPLE is making us figure out the workaround if that’s the case, like I said, I have many keyboards, and as you’re doing the steps 1-5, the keyboard could switch on you during the steps, so somethings, if the steps don’t line up with the pictures or not working, make sure you’re still in the default keyboard, or the English keyboard if you speak a different language “((make sure you use iPhones keyboard of your language do not download somebody else’s keyboard etc.))” you can tell, but it happens without you noticing it😎👍👋

Hey Guys, I figured it out.

Step 1: Go to iMessages

Step 2: Go on a chat message

Step 3: Select smiley emoji to the bottom left

Step 4: Select Show stickers

Step 5: At the top you should see the different action button. Click on the Memoji one. You have to send Memoji stickers to the chat for it to pop up on the sticker section on the keyboard as usual

I hope my explanation helpss
