iPhone 14 Pro - HDR not working when taking photos

Hey,

I bought an iPhone 14 Pro and I really like it but after a few photos I find that the HDR is not working. It does not matter which of the 4 lenses I use, HDR is not triggered. I updated to iOS 17, but in the few days of iOS 16 usage I could found similarly burnt out photos. I even tried to shoot the same scenario with my 6th gen iPad (with hdr turned on manually on that device) and even that provided a way better result regarding dynamic range.

Is this an issue with only my device? Maybe there are some settings set up incorrectly?

Or is it a glitch that will be fixed with next iOS update?

Hi Bill_T1,

Thank you for the reply. In the meanwhile I went back to the official retailer and they switched it to a new device, it was some kind of issue. Warranty handling was super smooth, and could set up the new device very quickly from an iCloud backup. With the new phone HDR seems to be fine. :)

Cheers,

Ákos

Hi ákos91,

If you suspect that there may be a setting or configuration problem on your device, Adjust HDR camera settings on iPhone details options on where to find and how to adjust the HDR settings for your iPhone.

If those do not seem to resolve the matter, as you indicate the behavior was present prior to upgrading, there may indeed be a problem with the cameras or hardware of the iPhone and having it inspected would be next. See Find Locations to identify the closest authorized Apple service providers near you for that step.

Regards.
