Can't select AirPrint Printer after iOS 17 Update

When I try to print the no printer selected is displayed, when I select the printer it starts to connect but the no printer selected comes back. There is a printer there and has worked previously, is this something because of an update?

There is a printer there but it does not pick it up, it was fine last week. Is this because of an update?

I read on another string that Norton's VPN may be the issue, blocking AirPrint on iPhone with IOS 17. I not only had to turn off the VPN, but also reboot the iPhone afterwards. Now able to AirPrint.

Notably, the Norton VPN does not block wireless printing from Windows laptop. :-(

Thank you.

The Brother DCP-L2530DW supports Apple's AirPrint technology.

So, it should work even without a special app from the printer manufacturer, provided that the printer and the iPhone are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router).

There have been other reports about difficulties in connection with the iOS 17 upgrade. To begin with, try the aforementioned full power-cycle procedure. This may or may not work

Hi Nana2kbb,

You do not say which HP printer model it is, nor what you have tried.

Please take another look at the replies (on both pages) above.

Since different things appear to have worked for different users, it is difficult to say what exactly could be causing these problems.

You may want to check

  • that you have the absolutely latest iOS update,
  • whether turning off VPN (if applicable) would change anything,
  • whether turning off the private Wi-Fi address feature (if applicable) would change anything,
  • whether the full power-cycle sequence test (described earlier) leads to a positive result, and
  • whether a printer firmware update (if available) could be a solution.

I attempted to print for the first time since the iOS 17.1.1 update. My iphone 12 Pro Max can find my Canon MF260, but it will not stay selected and print.

I double checked the network settings and reboot my router, printer, and phone. I had not changed anything and was able to print prior to the cellphone iOS update.

I downloaded the file to my PC and the file printed just fine. It appears there is a definite glitch in the iOS update and it appears there are others having issues with the update as well.

I have an IPhone 12. Just updated with 17.1.2 as requested by my work. I have used AirPrint to my home printer for the last 3 years no problem.

After new software my airprint with my Epson WF-3820 no longer works. I have tried re starting router, forget and reset all networks, turning all devices on and off. NO GO.

fortunately my Epson apps work on the iPhone but AirPrint was easier to use and now I can’t find my printer in AirPrint.

Using Epson Printers

After the IOS 17... updates, on iPhone 12 ProMax - tried everything under the sun. Thought finally had solved issue after shutting down printer, router & modem, then turning back on in order of modem, router & printer. would work SOME of the time afterwards. Also found that if I change from one printer to another, then back to the one that I want to use, waiting for confirmation after each change, then I can usually print. My wife is on the same network with an iPhone 13 Pro and never has any problem. WHAT DID YOU DO APPLE!!!

Thank you for sharing this, I have the same problem and the same printer. I haven’t printed for 6 months or so, so I don’t know when it became an issue but I can print from the Cannon iOS app. If you don’t have that phone app, it’s with it. With that app I prove that I have successful status, checked in cartridge, error status, print job count, etc etc and the printed a document twice. But I try it from anywhere else using the iOS “Print” and as soon as I select the printer it goes back to its default value waiting for me to select again. I shall try your method tonight, however I don’t know why that would cure something iOS caused, unless they are updating something in the protocol ??
