Epson 2810 print from iMac problems

i have installed my new epson et2812 printer om my desktop iMac running macOS Catalonia 10.5. i have spent the last 4 days trying to solve a problem where i can print perfectly from my i phone in the epsom app but when i try to print from desktop i continually get a message stating You need to install software to use this printer. To install the software, choose App Store… from the Apple menu. If the software for your printer isn’t available in App Store…, contact the manufacturer of your printer.

i have been on apple store and epson site and after downloads says software updated. It shows my printer as the default printer and idle with green light but just wont print when i try a yellow triangle with exclamation sign comes up. i have deleted and gone back to set up at least 8 times anybody got any idea how to solve the problem . i have a usb connection all new cables i have tried with it connected and without but as said will only work with the epson app on my i phone.

Couple of possible solutions here...

I just managed to solve this so I thought I'd share. The key is to let Epson setup the printer, don't rely on your computer to do it properly. So the fix is:

Remove the printer from your computer settings
Download the Epson setup application
Run the setup, the final step will add the printer back to your computer

I hope that works for you, that's what fixed it for me.

it's a selection of epson drivers for Mac that can do postscript. I installed the drivers from this page deleted the ones that were already installed that are supposed to be for the ET-2810 and it worked perfectly.

Hope this helps anyone who had the same problem as myself before they go through 50 sheets of paper and 1/4 tank of black ink testing if they got it to work like I did xD

Hi,

First of all, in order to avoid any confusion regarding the printer, is the Epson ET-2812 your model?

(this does not appear to be a model with support for Apple's AirPrint technology).

Also, you mentioned that printing is OK from an iPhone using the Epson app (Smart Panel?). When doing this, has the printer been connected to a Wi-Fi router (the same as the iPhone), or have you been using some kind of Wi-Fi Direct printing (iPhone to printer, without a separate router)?

You mentioned USB for the macOS (10.15) Catalina iMac computer. If a Wi-Fi router is used for iPhone printing, have you tried a wireless connection from the iMac to this router as well (instead of using USB)?

Have you tried to reset the printing system and re-add the printer?

Hi yes I have installed these I have been on there help line chat , I went through process took over hour then they said I need to shut down computer, so I did that and then had to restart chat all over again after me asking if it would stay open , apparently that lasts for 5 min only !! . So I’m really stumped I am reasonably ok on things like software updated drivers etc , and it just annoying it won’t print through my I Mac . Works perfectly well from I phone so at least can print emails etc but it’s for other bits .

Hi thanks for reply’s I’m away from the printer over weekend will try all your ideas on Monday . I have tried without usb though and still get same result prints from I phone using WiFi but won’t from i Mac . Thanks all and hopefully one of these methods will work 🤞
