CarPlay iOS17 not working

So since I did the iOS 17 update, CarPlay no longer works. I have reset the settings on my phone, my car, went through every step I found online and I have installed the most recent bug fix. So I am at a loss and I am assuming when my iPhone 15 Pro Max gets here today that I will still have the problem

Greetings Erklee102381,

To ensure that you're covering all the bases, the following steps may be able to provide you with some additional assistance:

"Check your wired or wireless connection and your iPhone settings

If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps—checking CarPlay after each step:

  1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
    • If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
    • If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone under Settings > Bluetooth. Then go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on.

2. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display and select it.

3. Restart your iPhone and your car.

4. Make sure that Siri is on.

5. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.

6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.

7. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support.

Connect your iPhone with a USB-C connector to CarPlay with the USB-C to Lightning Adapter

You can use the USB-C to Lightning Adapter with wired CarPlay in most vehicles. However, some combinations of adapters, cables, and vehicle entertainment systems might disrupt the wired CarPlay connection. In this situation or for cars that support only wired CarPlay, use a direct connection with a USB cable.

This actually worked! I just bought the 15pro and i thought if i just plug in the USB-C charger it would automatically connect my car play like my iPhone 11. But all it did was charging my phone. I have a 2019 Honda civic and all i did was reset the infotainment system. Once reset, it prompted me to enable CarPlay and also enable CarPlay while phone is locked!

Thank you 💜

Was able to fix wireless Carplay under iOS 17.4.1 by the following steps for Audi A3 2023:

  1. Unpaired iPhone from the car in Bluetooth settings
  2. Explicitly deleted the saved car's WiFi hotspot networks named "Audi_ MMI_XXXX" and "Audi_MMI_XXX_5Ghz" from iPhone (go to WiFi network's properties and tap "forget this network")
  3. Restarted iPhone
  4. Paired iPhone to the car via Bluetooth and enabled Carplay for the new pair
  5. Done

After 17.5.1 2016 VW GTI Apple Play started to give me trouble, and finally no connections what so ever. Seemed to be a cable issue, so bought a new cable. No connection. Cable works connecting to MS Windows. 2016 doesn't support WiFi Apple Play. Read everything here and figured that was it until Apple fixed the issue. In desperation, I used the original Apple cable from the iPhone SE. Magically it WORKS. Something about the aftermarket cables?

New Iphone 15 promsx/ unable

to connect wired Carplay. Reading these comments I took the USB C to USB C wire that came with the phone- attached a USB a converter and bingo- Carplay attached. Apple should ship chargers, and what ever else to keep phone functionality. But that at least worked. I will use all the other charging wires I have for charging in the house.

If there was an "issue" they cannot fix on a general basis millions of iPhone users wouldn't be able to use CarPlay daily.

Instead there's something unique to your configuration - a combination of VPN, device, and your car's firmware - that is causing issues.

Your best bet is what you are already doing - work with Apple Support directly.

Finally, thanks to a FB Audi e-Tron GT owners group I could solve the problem, rebooting the car's (Audi MMI) System, and reconnecting the WiFi settings to the Car, making shure to de-activate the private connection setting in the WiFi preferences of the iPhone.

The real issue with Apple is, that almost every Update of iOS generates a multitude of connection issues with periphery connected to the iPhone / iPad and Syncing with MacOS Devices like iMac and MacBookPro.

So with iOS 17 I had to completely reset and reconnect my Withings Healt Care Devices and Netatmo Climate Control devices, my Libratone and B&W Music Systems, and so on.

This Anker cable worked like a charm for me--thank you so much for the suggestion!

CarPlay was mostly fine for me in my 2021 Forester, with the occasional app crash (rebooting the phone or restarting the car always fixed it), until last week when it stopped entirely. I have a 15 Pro and was using an Apple USB-A to Lightning cable with Apple's Lightning-to-USB-C adapter.

I rebooted the head unit in my car, update the software _for_ the head unit, updated to the latest iOS version (17.3): nothing worked. Well, after the 17.3 update, I got a blip of "Unlock your phone to start CarPlay" on the head unit screen, but it still didn't work.

Then I got the Anker cables and voilà: it's back.

I have the same issue you do. I updated to 17.4.1, I have a 15 Pro and the car is a 2021 Audi Q5.

I have removed apps from my phone, reset network settings, deleted and re-paired my phone to the car, but then when paired Carplay doesn't launch like it normally does.

The only way Carplay works for me is when I plug it in with USBC cord. It's frustrating but whatever. Hopefully the next update will fix this.

I wrote a post yesterday, 4/30/24, about my Carplay not working with Bluetooth. This morning I tried again and this time removed all my connected Bluetooth devices and now my phone is connecting to Carplay and everything is displaying as they normally do when I turn on my car.

My hubby said it was something to do with my phone as he has a 15 Pro Max and has everything in tact and his Bluetooth Carplay works fine.
