CarPlay iOS17 not working

So since I did the iOS 17 update, CarPlay no longer works. I have reset the settings on my phone, my car, went through every step I found online and I have installed the most recent bug fix. So I am at a loss and I am assuming when my iPhone 15 Pro Max gets here today that I will still have the problem

Okay, so far on iPhone 13 Pro Max after iOS 17, 17.1.2 and 17.2 updates CarPlay doesn't work on 2021 SYNC3 Mustang, 2024 Opel SUV Hybrid in Europe, and on external screen device link with bluetooth. I can pair, verify, load data, but CarPlay never launches on vehicles. The first two say connected the third never indicates it's connected. Tried factory resets on all vehicles and external devices and clearing of CarPlay and Bluetooth Connections on iPhone, but still no CarPlay. Reset iPhone network connections, changed network access setting on iPhone as directed. Literally nothing works. So, I installed my wife's Apple 14 Pro with some version of iOS 16? on it and magically everything works on the same CarPlay devices.

So that essentially proves this is caused by iOS 17. If I had an iOS 16 backup, I'd revert, but unfortunately backup on iOS 16 started failing which is why I upgraded to iOS 17. It appears that Apple stopped testing software before launching, we're all beta testers.

Also have loaded latest firmware multiple times, so that's not the problem either.

I've also tried changing cables but that shouldn't have affected my wireless CapPlay connection device, so still iOS 17 issue.

I literally had to pull up an old iPhone mount and install on the front dash so I can navigator or borrow my wife's phone.

So Apple, please fix defective CarPlay on iOS 17 so we can stop wasting time and drive safety with handsfree.

Yeah, they had me disconnect my VPN and that did not fix CarPlay. My VPN is a bit complicated to reconfigure, so I'm ******. I wish Apple reps would just admit there's an issue they cannot fix instead of taking customers through needless troubleshooting procedures. If reps are not aware there's a known issue, then that's just poor intra-company communication. iPhone 7+ with iOS 15 working fine!

Yep this is the same for me too. BMW x3 idrive and iPhone 13 mini. Ever since the first 17.2 release and every release since then. Every time i get into the car I have to disable bluetooth and re-enable for my iphone to play music. Full factory reset of the cars idrive and the iphone did not fix the issue :( I programmed one of the cars audio buttons to the disable/enable bluetooth menu to make it a little quicker but its still annoying as ****.

After much trail and error, including removing the "connected devices" from the car's InfoTainment system, and re-adding the iPhone over Bluetooth and CarPlay, I'd get a session or two working but would stop connecting after a day or two.

My problem had to do with changes in the VPN software (F-Secure) IKE protocol I used - I changed from IKEYv2 back to IKEYv1 (I know, not as secure), and when I removed the devices and readded them, I made sure VPN was OFF during that initial pairing and setup and VOILA everything not only worked but the configurations continued to work and persisted after multiple car sessions (turning on and off the car) and over many days.

So, I'm good until the next software patch, update, feature or change in this complex web of integrated technologies!

So after giving up for a while, even after trying with the latest released iOS version, my Bluetooth connection was acting weird yesterday, and the music sounded like a phone connection (I’ve had this happen on other cars as well randomly) I decided to try switching from idrive to CarPlay on a whim, and it just worked without any issue and has been working since. It’s been less than 24 hours but I’m hoping it will hold. Very strange as I have done absolutely nothing different, no software updates, etc. I know this probably won’t help anyone having the issue but I’m glad whatever black magic decided to make it work again.
