My song ratings disappeared in Music. Yes the box is checked in Preferences. How do I restore?

I restored Music from backups many times, it still does not work. Of course it messes up all my playlists.

Do you have a subscription to either Apple Music or iTunes Match? If so these services can maintain your ratings in the cloud, and reset them if you restore a backup of your library. Depending on how or why the ratings went missing you may need turn off the Sync Library option before you restore a library, and take your computer offline before connecting to the restored database. It may also be worth holding down Option as you launch Music and explicitly choosing the restored .musiclibrary database in case it is accessing a copy on a different path rather than the file that you have restored.

Hey hsaluja,

If you aren't able to find your ratings in Music on your Mac, make sure you have it set for optimized viewing. Note that this settings does not affect the songs that you have rated, it merely allows you to see whether you have rated the song or album, and the rating you chose.

Turn ratings on or off

1. In the Music app  on your Mac, click Songs in the sidebar.

2. Choose View > Show View Options, then select Rating. If the checkbox is selected, ratings are turned on.

3. You can also choose Album Rating to turn on album ratings; an album rating is calculated by combining all the individual song ratings.

Rate songs and other content in Music on Mac - Apple Support

You can choose "Personal > Album Rating" and "Personal > Rating" from this menu. Once the Rating column appears in your Music list, move your pointer over it to rate or see your rating.

Kindest Regards.
