iPhone 15 overheating

Hi everyone. I’ve recently purchased the new iPhone 15 pro max and it is heating up even when I’m not using it.

I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue or if it maybe a setting that is causing it that I can turn off?

Any advice is appreciated. :)

For all of you:

Do a simple Forced Restart on your new iPhone by:

  • Press and quickly release the volume up button
  • Then immediately press and quickly release the volume down button
  • Then immediately press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button and KEEP HOLDING it past the swipe to shut down and KEEP HOLDING it until the Apple Logo appears, then let go

Sign back in with your passcode when the phone prompt you and let the phone settle down over the next couple days. If you transferred a LOT of data, it can days for the indexing process to complete. There is likely NOTHING wrong with your phones.

My iPhone 15 is running warmer than my 14 Pro and 13 pro ever did. Which is odd considering the 14 pro has the same chipset in it. Could be just the indexing but I've had it under a load before and it felt fine. This time it was just sitting and not charging or anything and it just started to get hot. Also started to lag a bit and was unresponsive. I was indoors while this occured in a climate controlled area set to 71F. So it's a little concerning.

I have also experienced my 15 pro max heat up. When I first got my phone it did heat up to the point I couldn’t touch one side of the phone but a little bit later it was fine.

after hearing about heating up while in a call and pictures, I did test it, and my phone also heated up. It was to 36 consecutive picture taking that I started feeling my phone heating up fast. When I was play clash royal tho it did not heat up but I did have a case on then. But what I think is that there is a bug/ or some type of communication happening from the software and the new 17 bionic pro chip and battery which is making it overheat rapidly to the point where you can’t touch the phone. Remember the chip is 3 nm and it’s the first in the world to my knowledge instead of 4 nm there most likely be some updates fix the issue. Also I’m not much of a tech person. This is just my thoughts after seeing and feeling how much heat came out of my phone and other comments on the phone to about the heat issues.

My wife got 15 Pro 256GB version and noticed the same problem. The phone gets really warm (I would describe as hot) while charging and also stays warm during regular use or even standby (with or without always on display enabled). Gets noticeably warmer during camera usage. This is concerning...and will be holding on to iPhone 12\Pro trade-in for now. I am getting mine on Friday and will keep an eye on it. I understand that new chips may use power, but the phone should not act like a heater during normal\lightweight operation. Hopefully this is software related and can be fixed.

If the phone was powered on and not on charge at night, even if you don't use the phone, the phone is still consuming power. It's trying to stay connected to Wifi or Cellular. It's checking for email. Location Services checks location. The drop in percentage you saw, would be completely normal. The absolute best way to manage the battery in your iPhone is to plug it in to charge when you go to bed and with Optimized Charging turned on and leave it on the charger all night EVERY night.

I mean the phone that is not charged overnight. From my experience with 12 pro max and 13 pro max, the drop after the night was a maximum of 4-5%, while in the 15 pro max after the first night it dropped by about 7-8%.

Of course, during the day I noticed that it was warmer than my previous one. I'm waiting 72 hours and I will decide whether or not to return it because the battery is worse than in the 13 pro max with a battery condition of 87%.

Iphone 15 pro 256 blue titanium bought on launching day, once setup and ready for use first overheating problem when using WhatsApp and Instagram outside (I was not calculating a black hole mass...), screen goes dimming to 30% bright and I'm shocked for that...so I went back to Apple Store and return it for new unit, the second one same problem, the phone runs easy hot doing easy tasks, and the behavior is like an oven when try to record 4k 60 fps video along two minutes only. Enough for me, second unit returned it today and that´s all, I´m not going to pay a **** for Apple design errors or insufficient TSMC 3nm chip manufacturing quality.

The phone has obvious problems with effective heat dissipation.

The iPhone 13 pro max reaches a temperature of 30 degrees C during normal activities, while the 15 pro max after a few minutes jumps to 32-33 degrees C. This will have a long-term impact on the condition of the battery and perhaps other components.

I did a hard reset and loaded the applications again.

NOTHING CHANGES.

If Apple releases an update and reduces the processor speed, will the phone still be worth the money? In my opinion no.
