iPhone 15 overheating

Hi everyone. I’ve recently purchased the new iPhone 15 pro max and it is heating up even when I’m not using it.

I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue or if it maybe a setting that is causing it that I can turn off?

Any advice is appreciated. :)

What you were doing is actually DANGEROUS and Apple released a statement months ago (long before the new phones were released) to NEVER charge your phone under a pillow. If you think this is due to iPhone 15, you are mistaken.

Charging ANY cell phone under a pillow is dangerous and should NOT be done. EVER. Batteries need to be charged in a well ventilated area.

Regardless..the phone is full of flaws and should not be OVERHEATING.

Neither our 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max has any flaws and neither is overheating. What you did was dangerous and you're lucky what you did didn't lead to serious consequence, which you could NOT blame on Apple nor iPhone 15. If you read a page back, you'll see what Apple has stated on this topic. They know what's causing the issues for SOME, but NOT ALL and they have worked with App Developers who did NOT optimize their apps correctly to work with the A17 Chip and they are going to roll out an update which will help those who are having issues, WITHOUT having to do anything with the A17 chip, which many have suggested would have to happen.

Before you post to a thread, instead of replying to the very first post, maybe take a little time to read through the thread to see if there are any solutions, which had you read further, you would have seen there are.

Thats incorrect! 15Pro and 15Pro Max has overheating flaws and its not for SOME, its FOR ALL. Are you suggesting that the Iphones were not throughly tested before production. No other phones have overheating issues and they can be dangerous regardless charged under a pillow or in hand of a toddler. I was at Apple Store and they were saying they were receiving a lot of return requests.

You are simply wrong. I have two of them. They DON'T overheat. I now know several people with an iPhone 15 Pro. Not one of them is having any heating issues. If they were ALL overheating, why doesn't mine or the people I know NOT overheating? Until you've personally evaluated every unit of the Millions upon Millions of them in users hands, you cannot validate your claim, which is simply, utterly, completely wrong. I get you're not happy. But DON'T make claims you have absolutely NO data to backup.

Captain, I NEVER said there wasn't a heating issue. Of course for some there is and has been. Why do you think Apple has publicly announced a soon to come update and why did Apple have to work with some App Developers to get their apps to play better with the A17 chip? People simply don't read or if they do, they simply don't comprehend and prefer to instead to believe their own narrative.

What I said was that for some, like both of our 15 Pro's, there has been NO HEATING issues. I don't speak for everyone. But I do take exception when someone makes a totally false claim that EVERY iPhone 15 Pro has heating issues. They don't. And Apple also admitted that to the publications you reference.

It's not the iphone hardware it's some apps that didn't get effective or no updates for IOS17 and IOS17 bug. If it was the design of the hardware all iphones 15 pro/pro max would overheat and that it's not happening, only a small part. Considering Apple sold over 24 millions units only for the iphone 14 pro ... I'd like to know how many iphone 15 pro have been pre-ordered, considering they are all sold out. If happened to me I'd restore my iphone as a new iphone do not use any back up, do not d/l any app and then try to see if it's overheating again. My iphone 15 pro 256GB is working perfectly no signs of getting warm. Consider that this is a worldwide community

Let’s define what overheating means. Temperature above normal operating temperature which causes the device to stop working or degradation in performance, thermal shutdown or something else. I agree, under normal operation it should not do that, and by normal operation I mean using the device as intended. Charging the device under pillow is not an intended way of using it.

Apple did release a statement indicating that a few factors are causing this for some users under normal operation, an OS bug and a 3rd party bug, which is most likely related to the OS bug IMHO.
