iPhone 15 overheating

Hi everyone. I’ve recently purchased the new iPhone 15 pro max and it is heating up even when I’m not using it.

I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue or if it maybe a setting that is causing it that I can turn off?

Any advice is appreciated. :)

For all of you:

Do a simple Forced Restart on your new iPhone by:

  • Press and quickly release the volume up button
  • Then immediately press and quickly release the volume down button
  • Then immediately press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button and KEEP HOLDING it past the swipe to shut down and KEEP HOLDING it until the Apple Logo appears, then let go

Sign back in with your passcode when the phone prompt you and let the phone settle down over the next couple days. If you transferred a LOT of data, it can days for the indexing process to complete. There is likely NOTHING wrong with your phones.

It still does not explain , why phone getting heated even when not being used and no apps running. That cannot be iphone functioning as intended. I do not expect the iphone reaching a 115 F temp when i am in a call or browsing internet, cannot be intended functionality, none of the prior model had this issue. The first step of solving the problem is acknowledging the issue, so pls acknowledge their is a over heating issue and provide a fix, we cannot have customers paying 1700 USD for a device and it having heating issues..

My brand new iPhone 15 pro max overheats in less than 2 minutes when I try to play Amazon music via a Bluetooth speaker, but it’s absolutely fine when I do the same with YouTube music. Could it be that the Amazon music and or its bluetooth drivers are not optimized for apple? How do I resolve this? It crashes the app and makes the phone super hot!

Be careful, I picked up a display model iPhone pro max at the Apple Store and burned my fingers today! 11/27/24 not resolved.

Display units in an Apple Store are on a charger 24 hours a day and used hard throughout the day by hundreds of customers in the store. This is not even close to how a Pro Max would be used by an individual.

I have owned iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, since the day they were launched and have had absolutely, positively, No, None, Zip heating issues on either iPhone.

I do hope your doctor can provide some medicine to heal your burned fingers. I've heard the Aloe Plant produces a sticky substance, which can be very effective in helping burns heal faster.

Ok, interesting point, possibly the store had not updated the display models. That needs to be followed up on for the safety of others. On this community, trying to find out how to follow up with a store manager, so it gets resolved and found that.

Having been responsible for the display models in a cell phone store for years, I can tell you that lobsterghost1 is correct. You are not seeing a normal phone under normal conditions. They are plugged in constantly and they are also running software constantly. The screens never lock. I never had a problem with iPhones wearing out but did have an ongoing issue with Samsung tables on display regularly needing to be replaced.

That works too. I also noticed that when the iPhone was completely turned off it did not overheat or drain the battery as much. It is definitely a bonus versus all other phones that do not overheat to begin with. Also we have winter here so a pocket or palm warmer is an asset as a normal phone actually turns off in -10C in just minutes. I returned mine and am enjoying my older one with a new battery.
