The related document tells how to extend Apple Care+ coverage, if you already had AppleCare+ add-on for a limited time (3 years). It is not about the regular 1-year warranty.

The regular warranty roughly covers unforeseen factory errors. If that didn’t become noticeable within the first year, then such is unlikely to face at a later time.

If you didn’t get AppleCare+ at purchase time or within 60 days of that moment, then there is nothing to extend, unfortunately.
