MacBook Pro coverage expired way sooner than the promised 1 year

Hi all!

Recently took a gander at my Mac's About section in System settings and I noticed that my coverage says it's expired. I have all the necessary information to prove this machine was purchased on the 11th of September, 2024, reportedly brand new, which should mean my coverage is supposed to last till the same day of 2025. Any way to get that coverage back I feel like I am entitled to?

If more information is needed, I'd be happy to provide it.

Cheers!

I have no idea whether this applies to your purchase, but in some situations -- for instance when purchasing an Apple-refurbished MacBook Pro from a reseller -- it may be necessary to contact Apple directly with proof of the actual date of purchase in order to have the warranty period adjusted.

It was advertised as and also looked like it was brand new.

I don't doubt that it was new. But as BobTheFisherman has suggested, the warranty coverage evidently commenced at an earlier point in the resale process, prior to your purchase.

Apple may change the warranty start date if appropriate (and has done so for me in the past, in a similar situation) upon submission of the dated sales receipt.

The warranty likely started when the third party bought it from Apple. There is nothing you can do to change the warranty start date.

That is correct. If I purchase a device from Apple, the warranty starts on the purchase date and when someone purchases it from me as a third party, it does not change the warranty start date whether I opened the box or not. If the third party was an Apple Authorized seller, you may be able to get the date updated to your purchase date.
