iPhone Calendar Search not working iOS 17.0.2

If iCloud storage is maxed out, that can cause a variety of issues with synced data.

Check Settings > your name > iCloud . Show All > iCloud Calendar to see if it's on. If it isn't, these steps wouldn't't help.

If you don't have a computer you can back up to, increased iCloud storage would be important so that iCloud backups work properly, and synced data (such as Contacts, Calendars, Photos (if enabled) Health, and more, work properly.

Do you have a Gmail calendar or iCloud calendar? If you open your calendar and go to the bottom center and hit Calendars looks for the name of yours in each list. That tells you what direction to go to fix it. The iCloud fix will NOT work if it’s a Gmail calendar

Ok, so even though I do not use iCloud calendar, and it was already off, I toggled it on, then off again. This worked for me! Thank you!

Update to 17.2.1 and it will take care of it.

After that didn't work, I did the thing where you turn off calendar in your cloud settings, delete it from your phone, and then turn it back on, and that brought back my search.

As someone pointed out, it takes a few minutes. This did work!

What finally worked for me was:

1. I restored my phone to a time before the problems started. (I do a full backup on iTunes before every time I sync my iPhone).
2. I had 2 calendar apps (in addition to the one that comes with the iPhone).
3. I deleted both of them & reinstalled them from the app store.

Everything worked after that. Hope this helps.

The calendar option wasn’t on… it was before moving to the iPhone 15, so I switched it in and functionality is slowly coming back. Thank you

It is definitely an issue with iOS 17, because after toggling OFF and on the calendar, search works on my old iPad which can only update to iOS 16.7.2, but my iPhone 13 running iOS 17.1, still cannot search in some calendars.

Where are calendar events stored? Not on iCloud?

You have not mentioned where your calendar events are? Google, iCloud, AOL, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo or any Other

There was already an existing issue with searching in the calendars which has been going on for over a year, and that is the fact that if you edit an entry in the search results, that change isn’t reflected in the search results when iOS takes you back to that screen after the edit. This makes it confusing to see if you’ve edited or not (I typically need to change several and I can’t see where I’ve got to).

But for this new issue, bear this in mind:

It’s a new version of iOS on a new iPhone model. There’s always issues like this every time new iPhones are released. We’ll just have to wait for Apple to release iOS 17.0.3 to fix it.

These steps work because your calendar data is synced with iCloud (or another cloud service). Turning the sync off will delete the data from your iPhone, but not from the cloud. Turning it back on syncs the data back.

If you haven't already, first update your iPhone to iOS 17.1.1. That might solve any issues without having to take any other steps.

This only works if you are backing up your data to the iCloud. Be very careful about deleting the data if this is not the case! The fix mentioned above about turning on and off Siri and search worked for me without having to delete my data.

I tried it several times with no success. Then I tried again and left it over 2 minutes before re adding calendars. Now it’s all good again
