iPhone Calendar Search not working iOS 17.0.2

This is so annoying. I have force reset my iPhone. Still cannot find any appointments on my calendar… exactly why I knew I should not upgrade for at least a year when the bugs are hopefully worked out. COME ON APPLE!!!!

I have tried this. Step by step. What is ‘some time’? I’ve already waited an hour. Nothing for the last 2 yrs is coming up and I still haven’t figured out how to log out of my calendar and back in. It’s frustrating as I don’t have these appts written anywhere else and as one might assume they are pretty important and not just checkups. :( I’m too old for this nonsense. It hasn’t worked for days. Thx for reaching out, you’re very nice.

Sorry to hear you’re having issues Livrlady. I was so frustrated too! My search was working but couldn’t see my appts back to 2010 on my iPhone calendar but they were all on my iPad.

I found the same sort of instructions ARPU99 and they worked.

I sure hope if you try again it will work.

I appreciate everyone’s help. Nothing has worked. About 6 appts showed up in a search yet there are at least 2 per month there. It’s been 7 hrs since I followed the instructions exactly. Does Apple still have a Genius Bar or any in person assistance… this a real inconvenience because it’s how I schedule my medical appointments and track certain medical events?

Same here. Tried to get a genius appointment but don’t appear to be here. The other option came from Apple email saying can phone or chat to get advice. How ever that didn’t work as no one available!!!

No, your recommendation does not work. In fact, I can only search up to 2019. I even called Apple Support and they said I can only search past events which doesn’t make any sense. I will call again tomorrow. This is a huge issue for me.

Hi there I am having the same problems I can't search events anymore - I'm worried that you say “delete from my iPhone" if you do this won't it delete from phone? Sorry I just cannot lose these dates so if you could explain how you can delete then it returns this work that would be great, thank you. Cheers - Stu

Hi Get Jacked thank you kindly for your prompt reply. My icloud storage has been maxed out for over a 1 year so I'm concerned that my "events" are saved to my phone and not the cloud and deleting will see me lose them all. My phone has iOS17 and was updated a few days ago but it is only since last night that the search function has stopped working. If you have any suggestions on a fix/ work around I would love to hear, thanks mate. Cheers - Stu :)

I tried to follow your advice, but I guess I screwed up & have since did a restore. Please answer these questions:

1. Do/did you keep your calendar sync'd with iCloud? (I do not...it's sync'd with Microsoft Outlook).
2. Which account do you delete? I deleted my gmail account, which didn't help & I had to add it back in. The only other account that I have is iCloud. I haven't tried deleting it, but will that work because my calendars aren't sync'd with iCloud.
3. If not, should I sync calendars with iCloud, delete calendars from iCloud & delete account, then sign in to iCloud again?

I have been having this problem for over a year and this is the first advice that worked for me. Hallelujah! I can finally see all of my appointments over the past year that I could not find through calendar search unless I manually checked every day in the calendar year. Thank you!

Great job with the solution. It worked for me but my problem was slightly different, so I figured I’d call it out. My search feature was working on my local calendar, but it was not picking up on a calendar shared with me. This also fixed that search issue.

This is the only method that worked for me, on an iPhone 15 with IOS 17.2.1.

All methods mentioned above did not bring back displaying past events matching the search criteria.

Only this method allowed me to see past events that match the search criteria.

This worked to correct the search problem but resulted in no longer having the calendars which were shared with me. I waited a few hours. I looked again and ‘Use on this phone’ was now off. I toggled it to be on, and before it would go to the on status it asked ‘what would you like to do with existing local calendars?’ And gives one option ‘merge’. All I want to do is have iCloud back on. The word ‘merge’ is concerning. Any advice? Thanks!

Thank you so much!! @Osiris this was soooo helpful. I did not want to delete my calendar. My iCloud is maxed and I was afraid the data might not repopulate. I followed your instructions and voila! the calendar search is back working! This was truly the simplest fix!!! Cuz the search not working on my calendar was really getting annoying.

This worked for me on iPhone 14 Pro iOS 17.3.1

All events were synced but calendar search was only pulling up partial results.

i followed these instructions (toggled “Siri & search settings” off & on for calendar), then waited a little bit (maybe 30 mins for 1000s of events)
