I solved my issue finally. Genius’ the are NOT at the store or Apple support. I disabled “mic isolation” in the control center and set it to “standard”. It’s a miracle! Let me know if it works for you, hope so!
None of those things listed work - as soon as I downloaded the iOS 17.0.1 the issue occurred where no one can hear me when i am on a call. It’s not a faulty microphone issue it is a faulty software update.
I don't think it is a hardware issue.
The mic only works when I use other apps e.g. whatup. I even tested the mic by recording a voice memo and it is crystal clear. It is only when I try to call using the iPhone app (network) and no one can hear me.
So many people are having this issue yet the Apple team is ignoring it.
since 17update my calls keep going w speaker without even pressing it then I lose the sound like it’s a dead line I can’t hear them they can’t hear me. It was fine until I updated! Even with the 0.2 I’m still having the same issue
Yes, after IOS 17.1.1. update - my iPhone12 now overheats tremendously and I can only make or receive calls with the Speaker phone - all the other sounds and haptics all work etc..
Try disabling “mic isolation” in control center and set to “standard”. That worked for me. Hope it works for you!
Anyone find a fix yet? I’m tempted to return my iPhone 15 and get a new one but don’t want to taste time if this only a software issue. Still can’t be heard when on speaker phone calls on iPhone 15 iOS 17.1
After installing iOS 17.0.1 (iPhone 13 Pro) counterpart doesn’t hear me, placing calls on cellural network (over speaker/loud/airopds…nothing works). Whatsapp/viber calls - no problems, everything’s working fine.
If you have a hearing or sound issue on your device then please try some of these processes to set it right
If the above options do not mitigate the issues then Contact your carrier and then Contact Apple Support

Speaker low sound
My sound during a call is distorted/crackly/drops in and out - worked perfectly fine until the latest update. No doubt will be fobbed off by Apple yet again
Does not do anything to help. I’ve had a clear case has the holes at the bottom for months and mine randomly went out in the middle of a phone call. My friend could hear one minute and then the next she could not. iOS 17 was decent until this ****. Normal calls do not work at all but FaceTime and Facebook messenger calls work perfectly fine.
I have the iPhone SE. I updated my phone three days ago and the next morning when I woke up my phone wasn’t working right. People couldn’t hear me and when I hang up I wouldn’t be able to make calls for about a minute. I went to the Apple store, they ran a bunch of diagnostic test and at the end they said the front microphone was failing. Told me to go get a new phone, I did was at the AT&T store for six hours yesterday, because they were having problems with the update. Finally got home and this morning I wake up with my new phone and it’s not hearing me. I keep saying hey Siri and it doesn’t hear anything. I change the settings to always listen, but it doesn’t work. I got a new phone for nothing. The 17 update is too much for these SE phones I believe, what a nightmare. So now I guess I’m gonna have to make another appointment at the Apple iStore that’s an hour away and ask them to please roll back the update, which is what I asked for the first time. It is definitely the update.
