This is unfortunately a syndrome of modern corporate philosophy as apparent profit has become more important than inconveniencing customers. But by not eliminating bugs before promotion, profits are actually reduced and customer image / reputation harmed.
I’m not a tech; just an old guy who progressed from quill to my boss’s mandate to learn how to use an early Compaq portable sewing machine sized computer whilst tech people loaded it up following which I was sent on secondment to Malaysia to use the computer to develop local staff.
The rules of those days were NOTHING was promoted from developers to users unless it was thoroughly tested to get rid of all bugs.
Unfortunately today, it’s all slapdash and hurry to get software out to customers, no matter it be riddled by bugs. This speed over quality in the long run is far more wasteful than getting rid of bugs before promotion. It’s bad customer relations and encourages users to seek out better and more reliable competitors.
My day has started badly because of Apples slapdash philosophy. No man wants to be awoken by a hysterical wife with a frozen iPhone, particularly when he doesn’t know the remedy.
I’m thankful and grateful I found this solution but APPLE, you charge enough for your supposed quality products. Stop the shortcuts. TEST TEST TEST & TEST again before promotion of anything, fix or otherwise. Stop hurting us, your long suffering devotee customers, before the last straw breaks our backs.
