Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

I just picked up a iPhone 15 pro a week ago and could tell something was off. I always use a screen protector from Amazon. Every few texts, a letter would be skipped or I would have to click the back button an extra time. Just random occurrences. I pushed to exchange the phone with T-Mobile for another iPhone 15 pro and it is significantly better. I would exchange the phone if possible.

PS: I went to the Apple Store and they couldn’t find anything wrong. Turning on touch accommodations in Accessibility did help quite a bit but didn’t get rid of the issue.

I am having the same issue, I have a 15 pro max and I have most issues on the bottom right corner of the screen, and the left corner in the center, often I have to press 1-3 times the backspace or other keys in other for it to register, I feel my finger touching it but it won't register. Took me a month to truly look into it as at first I thought I was the problem.

I had to take the phone to the AppleCare so they would test it, they did the standard swipe test to fill the screen, and while doing the test the technician had to swipe again at certain parts of the screen that didn't proper fill up with a one direction swipe, but if he would do it slower and heavier it would fill up. I must say this test isn't really good for the issue we all are facing. Still the whole screen was filled and they concluded it "passed" the test. I did demonstrated me touching the screen trying to use the backspace and it failing a few times.

They suggest a factory reset with a clean start or a screen replacement, so I am now waiting on the screen hoping it will fix it, but I am afraid it might be other parts of the phone that are with malfunction.

This is such a disappointment to purchase such a expensive phone and have it work like it and not sure I will get it fixed or replaced. Long time Iphone user and never ever had such thing happen.

Having this exactly same problem, with a different part of the screen, 15 pro max here and mainly the bottom right corner, and left corner in the center. Often I have to press 1-3 times the same key in order for it to register, I am a light typer and had zero issue with iPhones since started using it over 10 years ago.

I went to the AppleStore for support and they did a physical screen test that I must say was not good at all to identify these problems, seems like it only detects if some part is dead, the technician had the swipe test that which often he had to come back to some part of the screen to fill it up or swipe slowly and heavily so it wouldn’t skip spots. Even though it did it all, the whole screen was in fact filled so the conclusion was that the device was working “normally”, when it clearly was not. I even showed myself trying to click on backspace to erase something and it failing.

Still they suggested a screen replacement which I am waiting for it to arrive so they can replace it in hopes it will fix it. The other option was a clean factory reset and install.

Please people, report this issue properly so that Apple take it seriously.

Apple reps are dissmissing it because the blue multi-touch test passes.

But this is an intermittent issue and so the test is flawed.

APPLE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY

I am on my second iPhone 15 Pro Max and it is as bad as the first, my wifes phone has no issue. This seems to be a batch situation.

I have used all IOS version 17.1 - 17.41.

I have factory reset it with my own MAC, and apple store mac, and tested with and without backup from icloud,

Had new screen repair, then got a full replacement (which did not come in a box, weird)

Finally after Apple staff fudging their own system to get me a replacement.

the replacement was also faulty.

THE FAULT:

At random times, the screen appears to be unresponsive, for no apparent reason.

I just have to click the same button multiple 2-4 times to get a response.

I have small office worker fingers, hence it should be no trouble, I click quite accurately especially the second time.

On the keyboard it is unknown because words a constantly wrong.

the issue occurs with or without a sccreen protector.

I have even demonstrated it on the blue screen multi-touch test, Apple rep said, "That was just a Glitch"

When I received my phone back from repair, I immediately got the issue on the keyboard when entering my wifi password.

The multi-touch test, colour the blue blocks across the whole screen.

THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE TEST, and for it to be used, and be a blocker to repair, when a phone it reported to be intermittent is failing the apple customers.

Because Apple policies (test pass requires service centre escalation) and the service centre are not patient enough nor try to get the phone to fail (like the instore rep did for me) this causes the instore Apple rep to fudge the system (say the screen is brokwn) to go around Apple policies, and hence this fault is not being reported correctly and is not being taken seriously which means we are not going to get a fix.

The Blue Screen Multi-touch test is not a good test if the screen SOMETIMES works.

I was able to demonstrate infront of the Apple rep a few white dots not colouring in, his response was:

"That was just a Glitch"

Luckily another Apple rep tried my phone for a few minutes and was able to replicate the problem consistiently, ultimately resulting in me getting a new iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Sadly, I'm one of those that were affected by this bug/?hardware issue. Got a new blue iPhone 15PM yesterday which was shortly updated to iOS 17.1.1.

In my case, the affected area appears to be the bottom right part of the screen overlaying the N, M, period and backspace buttons on the keyboard. Upon attempting to type, tapping these buttons does not seem to register properly, leading to frequent corrections of typos due to missing characters. This happens fairly frequently with the screen being responsive in between the instances this occurs.

I do not have a screen protector installed. Thinking this could be due to a bug in the keyboard software, I have tried switching between different keyboards including the native iOS keyboard, SwitchKey and Gboard with the issue being present regardless of which keyboard is being used. Restarting the phone does nothing.

Hoping this gets acknowledged and addressed soon. I'm considering returning the device and getting a replacement as a hardware issue hasn't been conclusively ruled out.

I'm also having an iPhone 15 Pro Max 256GB with exactly the same issue. I have to tap more often to a button or a letter on the keyboard. Really annoying when taking pictures and I have to tap tap tap the shutter. Are there any users who did a hard reset and tried again without any data/backup?

As the multi touch test in 'Device Monitor' app results in a perfect working touch sensibility it must be software/OS related.
