Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

I used the Message app. I would click on my upper left or upper center Pinned contact, then the back arrow. Just keep repeating upper left (or center) contact and then the back arrow. Maybe 1 of 3 or 1 of 4 times I’d click on the upper left or upper center it wouldn’t respond.

I could touch super firmly and extremely exaggerated and it still wouldn’t register a touch.

I had a faulty brand new 11Pro (I think it was). There was dead touch “bands” running across the screen. With that I used the drawing function in Notes and scribbled on the whole screen. The touchscreen dead bands would then “appear” as areas to touchscreen didn’t work.

I tried this method with my 15PM but it didn’t show anything. Worth a try though.

A few days ago I had an appointment at the Genius Bar in the Apple Store. (More detailed description of the error above in my older post) After I mentioned the occasional problems with the “back button” and that I had already reset the iPhone via iTunes, the Apple technical representative said that there was nothing he could do for me can't fix it. He also didn't say anything that it could be fixed in the future via a software update. Since my iPhone 15Pro was only 8 days old at the time, I was able to return the iPhone immediately and have already gotten my money back. I don't regret returning the iPhone because even if it could be repaired, I wouldn't send it in for repair! Because when I pay that much money for an iPhone, I expect it to work perfectly right out of the box! and don't want a repair to be necessary after just a week!!! I will wait a few months until Apple has fixed this quality problem and I can only advise everyone to return their iPhone if they also have problems with the display and 14 days have not yet passed since they purchased it!

I agree.

My screen failing intermittently too, yet the test passes.

The multi-touch test, colour the blue blocks across the whole screen.

THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE TEST, and for it to be used, and be a blocker to repair, when a phone it reported to be intermittent is failing the apple customers.

WHY?

Because Apple policies (test pass requires service centre escalation) and the service centre are not patient enough nor try to get the phone to fail (like the instore rep did for me) this causes the instore Apple rep to fudge the system (say the screen is brokwn) to go around Apple policies, and hence this fault is not being reported correctly and is not being taken seriously which means we are not going to get a fix.

The Blue Screen Multi-touch test is not a good test if the screen SOMETIMES works.

I was able to demonstrate infront of the Apple rep a few white dots not colouring in, his response was:

"That was just a Glitch"

Luckily another Apple rep tried my phone for a few minutes and was able to replicate the problem consistiently, ultimately resulting in me getting a new iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However the new iPhone too fails in the same way but even worse.

Previously I had a new screen, this made no difference.

I have this on a 15 Pro Max. Upper left corner of the screen is often unresponsive. For example, in the Messages app, the upper left Pinned contact won’t respond to touch maybe 1 of 3 attempts. Also the Back arrow in the upper left corner of a message frequently won’t respond to touch.

Have done a forced restart (volume up, down, then hold power until Apple logo comes up.). Still does it.

Since I set up the iPhone 15Pro for the first time 7 days ago, I have repeatedly noticed that some buttons often only respond the second or third time. The back button in various apps also sometimes doesn't work. I'm surprised that I haven't found any posts with the same problems anywhere in the German forum. This is the first time. that I find posts from users who have the same problems with the iPhone 15Pro as me. And I think I'm too stupid to hit the keys or my fingers are too dry!!!!

I returned my iPhone 15 Pro to Apple today after 8 days of use! It occasionally happened again and again that I had to press the back button twice because the first time the display didn't notice that I had pressed it.

Sometimes the A and Q keys were not accepted when typing! Sometimes the "space bar" was not pressed! That's not possible with a new phone for €1330!!! (256GB variant)

I've never experienced anything like this with an iPhone and I've been using iPhones since the iPhone 3GS! It seems to me that the phone was equipped with poor touch displays OR the display edges are excessively thin and this may be causing the problems!

I have been facing the same issue from Day 1 on my new 15 Plus 128gb black, it’s so annoying. I moved from a 6 year old android phone with lot of expectations and I feel like i wasted so much money on this shi*. Really disappointed.

I reported this issue to Apple support multiple times and they suggest the usual restore process, which I guess wont help.

Im confused if it is a software or hardware issue. Will apple service replace my phone?(i bought it on 23rd Sep), it really doesnt make sense even if they agree to replace the screen as it is a brand new phone.

The issue im facing are (consistent):

1. Scrolling and swiping is not smooth at all.

2. Open Music app , touch on Library , touch on Playlists and immediately type on any of the playlist you have.(as soon as the playlists screen loads, without any delay) , it doesnt open and I have to press it twice or thrice sometimes to open it.

3. Same as (2), open Gmail app and open any email. Touch on the back button on top left corner as soon as the email loads. It doesnt respond, touch again and go back and immediately open another email, it wont respond. Have to touch 2-3 times to open it. Note: if you allow a half a second or a second delay before opening anything then things are fine, but back button always sucks.

4. Instagram scrolling is really horrible, sometimes it just swipes left or right when I try to scroll down.

I connected a pointer device(mouse) to the phone and I see the same laggy responsiveness with that as well. Still im not sure if it is something to with the display(hardware) or its due to the way the OS is handling loading apps.

Same issue is seen if you open Settings->General and immediately touch on About. It doesnt open and you need to touch again to open it.

It happens even on the Home screen. Sometimes even if we touch on any app it doesnt open it and we need to press it again. In this case the response from the screen shows as if we have touched it but doesnt open the app. I have seen the same issue across a lot of Youtube review videos but no one cared to talk about it.

Hope this is a software glitch and it doesn’t end up being a waste of money.

Same issue everywhere on each and every app. Screen takes time to become responsive. And the back button seriously sucks always on the top left corner.

For example see https://youtu.be/nbAq3iHn2ww?si=26tL1abKDhQnNw0B (seek to 7:38) , you can see that the person had touch the Calendar and App Store apps twice to open them. But he was simply praising the iOS so much and calling it super smooth! What a shame.

My issue is mainly with the Lock Screen Widgets not responding - primarily when my iPhone 15 Pro wakes up after overnight. I have to do a hard reset as described towards the beginning of this thread, then it is usually ok till I go to bed. Same thing was happening with my iPhone 14 before I got the 15 but on the 14 it would also happen occasionally during the day. Anyone find a permanent solution?
