I bought a USB-C to USB-A cord thinking that it would allow me to connect to Carplay. The car works fine with my old iPhone 11 that uses a lightning to USB-A, but when I connect my new phone iPhone 15 (with USB-C), Carplay doesn't work.
Is this an Apple software issue? I was thinking another solution is to get a lightning adapter for a USB-C connector? Anyone else have this issue?

I’ve solved the problem (in my case, anyway.) It’s the cable you’re using to connect the phone to the car. Apparently, all lightning connectors allowed for two kinds of communication - charging and data transfer/sync. Not so with USB - C cords. Many only allow charging. Get a cord that specifically notes that it syncs data (in addition to charging) and presto! No more issues.
Go to settings then general then transfer or reset iPhone then click reset network settings. Make sure you remove your car from your phone listing and your phone from your car listing. After you do the reset re-pair your device.

Just close your VPN. It will work just fine.
I try USB3.0 A to C that can work.
maybe USB3.0 above is ok.

I have a 2018 Honda Accord and experienced the same thing!! I have a couple of USB-USB C cables that I use for other devices and nothing!! Guess which one finally worked: an old USB C cable from Dollar Tree!!!! And yes, it's 1ft. (Hopefully I didn't jinx it!). I'll be sure to keep you posted ... good luck!! :)
You need to reboot the infotainment system on your car, google how to do this. This will resolve the issue with connecting to car play

so I would follow these directions to do a full reset of the infotainment system. It will reset all your presets though. The regular reboot didn’t work for me. This did.
Please try resetting your network. I had an amazing call with a representative today and it fixed my issue!

I have a 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid and today connected my new phone via Bluetooth and used a USB to USB C short cable ordered from Amazon to connect to my car and CarPlay worked fine and phone was charging.
I have a 2022 Accord and just bought and iPhone15, initially wireless CarPlay was working fine. Then today it wouldn’t connect, kept saying no device detected. I removed it from the cars device list and when I added it back, all I could do was link the phone and music, CarPlay wasn’t even an option. It’s just gone. My iPhone 12 didn’t play well with my Honda’s wireless system either. You’d think as major players in their industries, Apple and Honda would be able to work together to ensure a smoother and less aggravating experience while using their products.
I have a 2022 CRV Touring. New iPhone 15 Pro Max will charge on the charge pad, connect via Bluetooth, but there’s a continually flashing “connected device not responding” when the phone is plugged into the smartphone port for Apple Car Play. I’ve tried different cords, a soft reboot of infotainment system, a hard rest of infotainment system, and I’ve ensured that the phone is completely updated. Is this a Honda software fail? Is an update forthcoming? Very frustrated…..
You have to reboot the infotainment system on your vehicle, this will resolve the issue.
Just received the IPhone 15 Pro and looking for solutions to the USB-C connection to my 2019 Honda Pilot wired CarPlay.
I was told by Apple today that their $19 USB-C to USB adapter would work in that Application. Is that not the case for you?
my IPhone 11Pro worked very well.
it will be troubling if there’s no way to move data using CarPlay.
