Swipe-up no longer shows the same features/functions on Apple Watch after the update

I just updated my Apple Watch 10 to watchOS 10.0.1 The swiping motions on the watch now bring different 'option' panels. "Swipe-up" no longer shows the same functions (battery %, vibrate phone, theater mode, etc). Where can I learn how to control my watch with OS 10?

Hi, I frequently and I mean frequently swiped up on my Apple Watch to see the battery percentage, to ping my phone, turn sounds on and off, etc. Now I have to change those settings by pressing the side button 😞 Is there anyway I can change back to a swipe up to see those settings? I have also turned my automatic updates off, so this will not happen again. I believe this happened when my Apple Watch updated to the new operating system.

One could define a superior product as superior when it meets the needs and more importantly "the wants" of all of its user base.

One could, but it would be absurd to do so. It is simply an impossibility to please everyone all the time.

That has and always will be the goal of new development. To create a product that meets the needs and wants of all users. Simple as that.

That has never been Apple's goal. Apple's goal has been to create the best product according to Apple's idea of what that is. Apple has a long history of giving people what Apple thinks they should have, not what people say they want. Perhaps you're too young to remember the fuss when Apple did away with the SCSI port. Or the floppy drive. Or the optical drive. Or the headphone jack. Or any of the other myriad of features that they have removed or changed over the years.

There is absolutely no advantage to swiping up to open the control center, and clearly, pressing a button to open it is easier and provides greater flexibility in using an Watch. So there is no reason to switch back to what was a stupid design from the beginning, that Apple finally corrected.

It was a long time ago, but there were complaints about swiping up for any function being counterintuitive when the feature was first added.

Finally, tap the very top edge of the watch face, will also bring up Control Center.
I have not found this to be true on my watch unless I have a timer running. What am I doing wrong?

Sometimes I get my calendar events, most times the Control Center. If on a different watch face it all depends on what complications are near the top left/right side of the screen.

But no, it is not 100%.

The flat oval side button is 100%, especially if you slow down the side button press duration.

Thanks! I have no problems with the side button, even without adjusting the speed. But I've seen people recommend tapping the top of the screen before and I've been largely unable to duplicate it. You've confirmed that it's problematic so I will most likely continue not including it in my recommendations.
