iOS17 swapped the locations of the iPhone mute and speaker buttons

The new ios17 swapped the locations of the mute and speaker buttons. The speaker button was on the left side of the screen. Now it’s on the right. Can I customize the calling screen buttons? I’d like the speaker button back where it was.

Make an option to reverse it back. That simple.

If you bothered to read past the first post, you'd have learned not one person on this user to user only forum which no one from Apple participates can grant your wish. So, it's not that simple as we can't change anything. You'd have also seen a feedback link posted multiple times, which you can use to tell Apple what you think they should do. Use it if you want Apple to know your thoughts.

LOL. I'm someone who has owned just about every model iPhone made and had to figure out the changes which come with every major iOS update. Apple changes things. They own and develop iOS. And they are under no obligation to notify us in advance of UI changes. But this change was widely discussed in places like YouTube and there were articles about is the software was under Beta Test. And to me, it's just not a big deal. I've already become accustomed to it and suspect you will as well.

Maybe next year when iOS 18 is released, don't update immediately and read about the changes before you do.

Yes, Apple does own and develop IOS.

But it is business critical that they do so in a way that preserves the good will of the customer base.

It's possible that poor or lazy management at Apple has not incentivized their people to correctly value the preferences of their customer base when design decisions are made.

Oh well, it's still a valuable company, and those who are more able to adapt (younger, technically oriented) will adapt. And Apple will still make container ships full of money.

Yeah because you’re a genZ and you play your phone 24/7…

You couldn't be more wrong. Making assumptions about people is most unbecoming. I am not genZ, nor do I "play" my phone 24/7. I'm a baby boomer, but a baby boomer who isn't too old to figure things out and adjust to change.

Edit: I've decided to take your assumption I'm genZ as a compliment. Age is just a number and if I appear far younger (I don't look or act my age at all) than I am pleased!

But Kshep123 is right. You need MUTE more often than the Audio button. MUTE should be closer to the thumb than Audio... This change is dumb.

To be fair…what you stated is an assumption, not a fact. For example…I rarely use the MUTE button so you stating that “You need MUTE more often” is a false statement for me and others that rarely use it. The change is something you aren’t happy with but that doesn’t make it “dumb” because of that. For whatever reason…agree with it or not, Apple decided to go with the change. No clue why and honestly doesn’t bother me since I don’t have a problem with glancing at it and touching the one that says what I want to do. I get being used to where it was and being able to touch it without little thought but at most it’s a first world problem. Submit feedback and hope that enough people feel as strongly as you do that Apple will consider changing it again. I’m sure someone out there is rejoicing in the change and thought that the previous location was as “dumb” as you currently think the change was. Question becomes whose inconvenience or dislike is more important (rhetorical of course. Doesn’t matter how things are…there will never be a choice made that will satisfy everyone).

Agreed! On the other hand, I do switch audio a lot so, as someone who holds the phone in their left hand, this is a great change.
