iOS17 swapped the locations of the iPhone mute and speaker buttons

The new ios17 swapped the locations of the mute and speaker buttons. The speaker button was on the left side of the screen. Now it’s on the right. Can I customize the calling screen buttons? I’d like the speaker button back where it was.

Make an option to reverse it back. That simple.

If you bothered to read past the first post, you'd have learned not one person on this user to user only forum which no one from Apple participates can grant your wish. So, it's not that simple as we can't change anything. You'd have also seen a feedback link posted multiple times, which you can use to tell Apple what you think they should do. Use it if you want Apple to know your thoughts.

That’s great but I work with blind people who have gotten accustomed to the buttons being where they were and have used them in their original location for 10+ years. Not they have to learn not only the new location which is at the bottom of the screen but also that they are flipped and on different sides

The fact that they are blind does not mean they can't learn a new thing.

That only allows you te leave feedback on “iPhone” not the actual software or versions of software. They know they would be bombarded with negative comments. And my initial comments did not violate any tou but my comment was still deleted

As the iOS is part of the iPhone, it's the most appropriate place.

This is truly unthinkable- that a basic layout function on the iPhone has been switched. Does Apple understand that routine is the way humans keep stress low in their lives? What could possible justify the decision to switch the speaker and the mute buttons. If you’re trying to create reasons for longtime Apple customers to pick an Android device, Well, I think you’ve found it. Congratulations.

Obviously, it's not unthinkable. People not only thought about it. They actually did it.

Please don't presume you know how everyone manages stress in their lives. Some of us manage stress but not, as the expression goes, "sweating the small stuff".

You should always choose the tool that best meets your needs. No one here in this user-to-user forum has any vested in what that might be.

And when you mention some thing like this, they just tell you to give product feedback. Like Apple actually listens to product feedback. If they did, they wouldn’t keep doing stupid stuff like this. I mean what is the point for usability by swapping the location of those two buttons? There is zero benefit for the consumer, or for the interface. It probably explains why since the update I’ve had more occasions when I can’t hear the person I’m talking to. It’s probably because they have muted themselves.

They certainly do listen to feedback. Do they always act on it? Of course not. They probably had a good reason for making the change in the first place. But, sometimes they do. When they changed the Apple Watch so that a swipe no longer changed the face, lots of people were upset. Lots gave feedback. Apple changed it to offer the option of the old way.

The fact that you don't like it doesn't make it "stupid". Have you considered the possibility that other people might have different needs and preferences than you do?

It actually works out better for me as I can access the speaker button one handed much more easily. But, it's not enough better that if they changed it back I would have a conniption.

Again, a clever design change is always undetectable.

That's really not true at all.

It’s also odd that the colours to the oranges, reds, greens and blues in the menu item icons are higher in contrast and visually very different. I would love to fully understand the reasoning behind all these changes.

No one here in this user-to-user forum can give you any specifics on why Apple has made the changes they have made.
