Apple ID photo won’t change on settings, iCloud.com, and “Name & Photo” setting on Messages in settings.

I want to change my apple id photo from a memoji to my normal photo. However, when i try to, it appears for a second, then when I leave and see it again, it reverts to my memoji apple ID photo. I was able to change my contact photo, not apple id photo. I tried restarting, signing out, kicking signed in sessions and logging in again, nothing works. Please help

I've been experiencing the same issue you mentioned with my new MacBook Pro M3. Just like you, my profile photo wasn't showing up on this device, even though it appeared correctly on all my other Apple devices, including my iPhone 13, iPad Air 4, Mac Studio M1, and MacMini M1.

I managed to find a workaround that fixed the issue for me. Here's what I did:

  1. Go to 'Settings' and then select 'Users & Groups'.
  2. You'll see the correct photo there. Click on your photo.
  3. Below, you should see your profile photo with editing options. Slightly zoom into your profile photo.
  4. After adjusting it, click on the 'Save' button.

Once I did this, my profile photo started appearing everywhere on my new MacBook M3.

Give it a try and I hope it works for you too. Good Luck!

I have the same exact problem no matter how many times I tried changing it with these tips they never worked and so I hope this helps it’s actually quite simple all you have to do is go to the contacts app and go to your contact not a contact you want to change your contact/Apple ID and click edit in the top right corner and pick out your photo and it should set and stay you may have to put in a screen time password if you have one but this is what worked for me :)

Are u serious lol you have to do that in order for it to show up after spending that much money. Not even that their whole thing is if you get all apple devices you can sync without much effort so cmon lol this is a little off topic but still same thread….. remember my old macbook pro and the way it used to store files. Even the cloud, it was so much easier to navigate. When I dragged a song into itunes thats where the file was. Itunes. It was so simple to keep ur information organized. Tags and colors only made it worse for people who are “messy organized”. I know sooooo many people who are 10xs more tech savy and had no idea that Icloud was automatically taking things off his computer and unloading it for him until he opened one of those files and it started to download lol. Go to your storage and it shows you how much space is being taken up and by what well it least it’s supposed to. It leaves out a huge chunk that are all caches and left overs from things that like PC users know not mac users. Mac users dont know code we know oh it connects its easy fast I love it I want it. Now I have to start learning to teach my GPT to code. For mac?

My girlfriend was having the same problem as all of you and would have rather smashed her brand new iPhone 15 than not be able to change her initial photo. If I took a picture however and assigned that to the photo it would save it, so I came up with the idea to do the initials and color you want then screenshot it and use the photo as the initial photo but crop it to the circle. Worked fine and ended the death fight we were in the middle of. She was then happy and asked for a grilled cheese. (True story) goodluck fellas.
