my kindle app won’t work

i’ve tried to open the app and it just sits there on the main page showing the tree with the person reading it won’t load anything I’ve shut down my phone brought it back up still won’t load anything and it says if I delete the app, I lose all my books

iPhone 15, iOS 17

Force Close All Apps:

An app may not be responding. So, close all apps. Hold you finger down on the Bottom-left cornet. As you swipe to the top-left corner, the apps will pop up. Then, close all of these open apps, by sweeping up quickly for all apps.


See if all works form there.

Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

If you deleted the Kindle app and all of the books downloaded from the Kindle Store, presumably you would be able to re-download those books once you had re-installed Kindle, and logged into your Amazon account.


With the possible exception of any books that Amazon had pulled from the Kindle Store (but not from your iPhone) since you had purchased/downloaded them.

I have an iPhone 13, iOS 17.1.2.


The app opens and then lags, and then shuts down. All over around 4 or 5 seconds. I have a plethora of available storage, so that is not the issue. I have forced close, and uninstalled and re-installed the app. It does let me log back into Kindle and it shows my library, but if I try to open a book, its laggggsville.

My kindle app on my past 5 phones will not allow me to open a new download. When it asks me if I want to read in my kindle app and say yes, It opens an app for my local weather. I have deleted the weather app and it just moves to another app that was next to the one that I deleted and still will not open. Super frustrating and appears that this bug has been an issue since at least 2016 based on the comments in this group. Super frustrating that in all that time no one has been intelligent enough to fix. Telling people to delete their app and lose everything is not a solution.
