Mail app fails to authenticate Google

Hello everyone, I am trying to add my gmail account to the mail app on Macbook but it keeps saying that authentication fails. I have tried to open Mac in safe mode and logged in again but it doesn't work. Also tried changing default browser from Safari to Chrome but same... Adding from Internet Accounts also doesn't work... Is there any way I can fix this? 😞

Can't add Gmail account to mail accounts on MacBook Every time I try to add my Gmail account, I get a message saying 'Google requires completing authentication in your web browser'. When I click 'open browser'but nothing happens. Chrome is my default browser but it doesn't open, and when I open my account there is nothing that helps. Safari doesn't open either. I have turned off authentication in my Google account but it makes no difference. This is a real pain. It used to work! Can anyone help please?

Mac OS won’t accept Google authentication for email account I’m trying to add my gmail account to my Mac Mail app. Password is accepted online by Google, but the Mac then says “authentification has failed”. How is this possible, and how can I correct this so I can have gmail on Mail app?
