You could try all the same things I tried described in this thread.
Go the scientific, methodical, route - measure everything. Duration, from how many % to how many % battery in that time, take screenshots. Every time you change something, give it a few hours until you're confident it changes either something or nothing. Then switch it back and try the next thing. Yes, this will take days, if not weeks, but keep a record of everything you do and the result. As you can see I built quite a record and detailed descriptions of what was going on, including screenshots of the battery drain at some points (I have lots more but didn't want to spam too much here). In the end I could with absolute (or at least 99.99%) certainty show that the problem was in the phone, not any of my apps, my usage pattern, my charge pattern etc. etc. When the evidence is irrefutable then Apple has no option to swap it. Otherwise they can* keep sending you back into the weeds with "have you tried ...".
You may not have to go this far. Maybe all it takes is a simple call to Apple Customer Support and mention your phone drains like crazy and they'll replace it. I may be the weird one, but I like to come prepared to the battlefield 😝 If you're close to an Apple Store maybe you could pay them a visit (closest to me is a 2hrs drive away) and have them take a look at it (I doubt they'll replace it on the spot, but you never know). If you have AppleCare+ then Apple may be even more willing to replace it quickly or without too much asking. However, you do have a right to a decent working product which you paid (dearly) for. So if the phone doesn't do what it's supposed to do or doesn't function as it's supposed to function or doesn't last as long as it's supposed to last then - in most, if not any, part(s) of the world - you're entitled to (most) of your money back or a replacement. It depends on where you live (I'm in Europe) so your mileage may vary. But I'm sure Apple will be happy to replace it if it's actually a lemon (production error).
Having said that: how long does yours last and could you post a screenshot like I posted which clearly shows a) the green battery usage graph and b) the blue activity graph? If you have any means to measure temperature reliably, like I did, then measure the temperature after your phone being "idle" for, say, an hour (with no apps open or anything) and also, or especially, at times when it's hot. Note down what you were doing what (may have) caused the heating in your opinion. Again: measure, build a record. The first thing you're gonna have to do is define what you mean with "battery is draining hard"; what is 'draining hard' in your book may be 'normal' in someone else's book. Numbers. Durations. Graphs. Cold hard data.

* Not saying they will.
I checked my last night’s battery stats. Last night I slept with having 92% battery on my iPhone 15 Pro Max around 12 am, when I woke up (around 5am) it was already 71%. Now that J have checked battery stat, it says chrome uses 99% battery from 12am to 1am, but I didn’t even have chrome running in the background. That’s so alarming for me. Hope they fix it soon.
Same. Really have no ide what’s happening! I charged it up before bed, unplugged it, was at 98, dropped to 90 this morning and now 43% after one hour of wave navigation and Spotify. My 12s battery was better than this. 😭
I’m considering returning this device I was on a call with a Apple representative for about 40 min dropped 35% literally a waste of time and energy talking to them I’m just going to go to the store and have them refund me
Same thing for me my 14 Pro Max I would charge it 8 o’clock in the morning hundred percent I go on Facebook a few times Instagram a few times and just talk to people on and off my 14 Pro Max by about 6 PM without even charging it watching videos and doing way more stuff than I’ve done in my 15 wasn’t even at 50% yet this is terrible Not to mention it gets very warm when it’s charging and very warm throughout the day of just putting Instagram on for 10 minutes I think they need to put some sort of patch out
I Have made many changes in my settings to screen including turning on low power mode. It still drains the battery much more quickly than my old eleven!
waiting to hear some good news. Regretting the prompt purchase of this phone!
I've been having these same issues with my iPhone 15 Pro. The battery will drain so fast and I'll be barely using the phone. This morning, I went to the gym (didn't go on my phone at all) and when I looked at it it was down tow 87% for doing nothing. Also, I've noticed when the phone is charging it will get really warm. Not hot, but very warm. Never had this issue with an iPhone unless I'm charging in the car on a hot day, and I'm running Google Maps and Spotify. With my 15 Pro it's literally just sitting on a charger in my cold apartment. Also, has anyone noticed that the touch screen isn't as responsive? Sometimes I definitely need to hit the screen multiple times before it's responsive and it's so frustrating.
I hope Apple addresses these issues soon, especially seeing how many people are complaining about it.
15 pro.. setup as new and experiencing this when the batter is below 50% and in phone calls. I’ve been trying to troubleshoot everything. Turned off 5G, disabled background app refresh, removed widgets, disabled location services. Nothing works. Only thing I find interesting is that it doesn’t happen when I’m home over 50% on WiFi
apple said to turn off background app refresh but that didn’t do a thing. It only seems to happen when I’m a phone call. Everyone’s experience seems different as far as when it happens but it’s definitely happening.
my battery went from 43% to 14 on a 20 minute phone call and it’s hot.
What a disaster!
You can see here two things:
1) Between 9am and 12pm, my phone went from roughly 80% to under 40% battery. What was I doing in that time? Sitting in a work meeting with my phone in my pocket heating up my leg. I didn't touch it in that time period other than to send one text message. Also, it's worth noting the bars are yellow because I had the **** thing in low-battery mode. Didn't help a bit.
2) The phone was charged to 100% an hour ago and it's already nearing 50%. In that hour I looked something up online and checked email once. That was maybe six total minutes of use. And it ate up nearly half the battery.
My app background usage is off. Nothing is sending notifications. Location services are turned off. It's basically a brick that's sucking up battery life like there's no tomorrow. According to Apple (who ran diagnostics), everything's great!
I talked to Verizon and will be returning my 15 Pro tomorrow and will just opt for the 14 Pro. It's just not worth the hassle and heartache of hoping Apple will actually do something about this.
Hello everyone,
I did a full diagnosis with an Apple advisor and my iPhone is OK.
You can do the same thing and you will see that you will get the same result.
You can exchange your iPhone and you will see that the new one has the same heating and battery problems.
Only one thing to do: wait while the devs publish an update!
So, here I am, with a $1200 pocket heater.
I've been troubleshooting this for two days straight now. I realise that for a new phone the first few days battery usage is high(er) than normal because of the backup being restored in the background, re-indexing stuff and whatnot. But that has never lasted more than a day or two and in 12-ish hours I've had this phone for a week.
Turned off Always On, uninstalled a suspect app that doesn't seem it actually caused it because the drain is still the same, restarted several times... And I, too, refuse to use LPM for this problem.
I've had my $1200 phone for a week and haven't enjoyed it at all. And I've been a iPhone user since the iPhone 3 and always enjoyed it. Apple better fix this FAST.
Yes while the battery is getting affected and the phone overheating in a long run the cycle decreases. Look at the screenshot I have attached below it’s crazy how the home & lock screen is consuming so much battery unnecessarily. My battery is @ 67 if this was on my 14 pro max I’d probably be having 80% while on the 13 pro max it would be at 88% at this time. Ridiculous since iOS 16 iPhones have been having bugs a lot! Come on Apple you can do better then I mean they are android devices with not as much bugs since launch date.

I have already visited them. They are not accepting their fault. They just saying repeatedly that it’s only because of third parties app on store.
I didn't tell you to visit Apple. I suggested (to someone else) that they submit feedback to Apple telling them about the problems they are having. The more data Apple has, the more likely they will be able to figure out what sort of problem this is.
I used to be able to use my 2 year old Pro Max 13 for 2 days EASY before having to charge (over 48 hours) and even my 11 Pro Max still in use by my spouse easily makes it 30-40 hours. Today I'm glad when my brand spanking new €1500 phone will make it 'till evening...
Mind you: This is with ALL apps closed, uninstalled Instagram and Uber (Apple said it could be them, but I never use them), with background refresh OFF, battery saving mode ON. Apple needs to release a 17.0.3 or 17.1 to fix this ASAP.
Update :. After the update i did let the battery drain. Restarted the phone. Then put optimized charging off.. charged it to 100% and then put optimized charging on. At first it seems the battery is better. But the battery is still ****. Its better then it was but its still not good. Its still drains alot. Even with 5G off. 120hz off and background refresh off. I really hope apple is gonna fix the battery issue. Because i didnt pay so much to have a bad battery. (Iphone 15 pro)
Ofcourse it's just with some phones. If all phones were bad it would be all over the news. Also, if you read this thread, you'll see people (like me) have had their phones replaced and all is fine and dandy since. So, yes, it probably is just a bad batch.
