iPhone 15 Pro Max Carplay Issues

I have a 2022 Wrangler with the 8.4" UConnect and I have issues with Carplay and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I did not have the issue with the 13 Pro Max I traded in. But Carplay only seems to connect intermittently. About every other time I get in I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get to connect. Id assume that this is an iPhone issue since the 13 was fine. The 13 also had iOS 17 installed so wouldnt think it is a software issue either. Please advise. Thank you.

2019 Ram 2500 and iPhone 15 pro. I have to plug it in several times to get CarPlay to work. All the iPhones I have had the past few years and my wife's and daughter's phones work fine. I even bought different cables to try. It is just something with the iPhone 15 Pro. Please help.

I’m having the same issue with my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. If I was connected to Uconnect, CarPlay wouldn’t even pop up. If I unpair Uconnect, car play will work for a few mins then drop. Uconnect can’t read or respond to texts after 17.0.3 update either. On a call tonight the screen froze and the person I was talking to couldn’t hear me. I’ve tried Anker USB A to USB C cables, I bought the adapter for lighting to usb c…none work. My dad’s XR connected to my car quick with no issues. Definitely think it’s something with the 15PM’s, I had no issues with my 12PM. Super frustrated.

Here is the summary Apple…

It seems to be happening to a ton of ppl. I’m seeing mostly jeeps, rams, so let’s say dodge ram jeep (this whole family of brands). It could be more but definitely see a pattern of these vehicles. It’s definitely on apples end and I believe it is software. Ppl have tried different cords, different usb types (c and a). No one has found a good fix. I had it working, turned my car off, left the phone in the weathertech cup holder with the cord connected, turned it back on and it did not connect. I feel like if it was hardware and I had it working, then turning the car on and off wouldn’t disrupt the hardware connection. So hopefully I am right and it’s software but it’s not just you everyone. APPLE, please fix.

I have bought a USB C - A adapter and several USB C cables trying to get my IPhone 15 Pro CarPlay to work in my 2021 Lexus RX350, none have worked. So I have ordered a MagSafe Charger, https://a.co/d/4L3yQZQ, and a CarPlay wireless adapter, https://a.co/d/26CRVat, to eliminate the need for USB cables. I received the MagSafe charger first. So I hooked it up and when I use both the USB cable and the MagSafe charger at the same time, the RX350 recognizes my phone and CarPlay works!

My hypothesis is the RX 350 USB A port can’t supply enough electricity to the phone, so the CarPlay handshake sequence fails.

Escalated with apple and have some high level expert who we tried everything. No go. My phone works with my wife’s Audi so it’s not hardware on the iPhone side. Guess I’m going to take it to the jeep dealer and let them update software but not very hopeful. She said this is known and they have engineers working on it for an update. Not holding my breath

Talked with my rep yesterday also. He says the same, "It is with the engineers and they are going through the logs." I am not going to hold my breath that they ever fix this. Some are saying they are blaming the vehicle manufacturers for it not working. From that logic, it would be a lot of manufacturers considering how many different brands have issues. I keep wondering if I should just trade it in for a 14 or keep waiting. I also noticed yesterday, when I get a call while CarPlay is working, it doesnt right through the vehicle. Any other notification does but not calls.
