Apple ID is not active

My iPhone XR says Locked to owner and i don't remember my password when I try to change it it says "Apple ID is not active". I can't make a Activation lock support request because I don't have proof of ownership (I got the phone as a gift and can't contact the relative who gave me the Iphone). I created another Apple ID to make this request.

See if Apple can reactivate hte acount. If not, you're out of luck with teh phone unless you can prove righful ownership in the form of the original receipt.

If you see the message below, or similar "inactive" messages:

- "Inactive" Apple ID/Account

- "Verification Failed. This Apple ID is not active."

You need to have Apple reactivate the account. Please contact official Apple Support for help with an "inactive" Apple ID. The people responding on this forum are Apple product users like yourself and cannot do anything with your account.

To reach Apple Support:

1. Click here --> https://getsupport.apple.com/?caller=cups&PGF=PGF63005

2. Select: Disabled Apple ID

3. Select: ”The Apple ID is not active" alert

4. Select: “Continue”

5. Select a chat or telephone call option.
