CarPlay Issues with new iPhone 15 Pro Max

I just got the iphone 15 pro max and carplay won't work in my 2022 Lexus Rx350. Help! I checked to make sure that access wasn't restricted in settings.

SAME HERE but with a brand new 2024 NX 350. I have been back and forth with Apple and Lexus for 2 months now and seem to finally be making headway.

I have had 3 loaner cars from Lexus over the last 2 months trying to resolve this (and a rattle in my door) and my phone hasn't worked with any of them EXCEPT the premium NX 350, because the software is different in the premium models. We have also tried 3 other iPhone 15s with several different Lexus models and none worked.

A higher up "regional technician" finally came out and assessed the problem and supposedly reported it to Lexus corporate, and now Lexus & Apple engineers are working to find a fix.

I am at my wit's end with this. How long am I supposed to drive around with a car that doesn't work properly??

It is illegal to use a phone while driving where I live (and unsafe anyway), so I have no means to communicate now while driving.

I suggest everyone call your local dealer and have them report it, AND call Lexus corporate and report it yourself. The more consumer push they get, the more quickly they'll need to resolve this.

I contacted apple support there were absolutely no help! After running me through everything I had already done on my own they referred me to my car dealership for a possible firmware update!!! If that were the case my Iphone 12 Pro Max updated to 17 before I bought the 15 would have had an issue.....it did now....they need to fix it and stop acting like everyone who asks for help is technology illiterate ....I am trying one more possible fix with usb a to c cord today after I receive it, but no one should have to spend the money I have on cords, adapters, turning off blue tooth, turning back on, resetting everything etc., on and on and on....Apple needs to fix this and not refer people to car dealerships!!!!!

Get in your Car, plug into the USB to CPort > then On your Iphone just go to Settings > General > Carplay > Your car name will pop up select and connect. I just had to do this with my Lexus NX2020 and it worked. I was like WTH how come it wouldnt automatically do it. But this worked using this >> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085VT1VJT?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

My I phone 15 pro max only works with one of the 2 usb ports inside of my console.

The dealer replaced the USB assembly. I still have the problem. Oddly they demonstrated that CarPlay and Android play did work on both usb ports with their older iPhones and current Androids.

There is something odd with the iPhone 15 pro max and my 2022 Lexus RX 350. If you have a solution please share.

In the USB port that doesn’t work the phone charging indicator cycles on and off and the phone will not connect.

Hi apple tech walked me through the process. I forgot the details now but it’s in my original post. But even after that I had connection issues. So I finally bought the Belkin cable (one end usb and the other end is C) from apple website and that did it. Samsung and other cables don’t work. Don’t waste your money on those. I dont have that issue anymore. Its totally worth it.

In Settings > General > About > Name > did you rename your iPhone form whatever you called your previous phone? If no, do so. If your previous phone is still listed in the infotainment system, delete it. Pair the phone over again in your car system.

When I get a new iPhone, the first thing I do is have my infotainment system forget it. Then I name the new phone a different name from the previous phone. Then I connect the phone to the car via Bluetooth and then connect it to CarPlay.

Also, if you use VPN on your iPhone, DUMP it. VPN causes more issues than it causes and is not necessary or helpful on iPhone.

Hello iPhone 15 pro users. I have great news for those who are unable to connect your phone to your Lexus CarPlay. I had the same issue. I contacted apple support via text and they guided me through and made it it work. I AM SUPER EXCITED! It’s just a matter of checking few settings and resetting your phone. You got to have some patience. It is a lengthy process. But it’s totally worth it😊 give it a try. FYI this is my first commenting in such forum. I had to share this good news so you all can resolve similar issue. I know how frustrating it is to find the answer. Good luck!

Oh no. Sorry. Did you already try to get help from a live agent? I guess I didn't explain the process in my original post. But she did walk me through several steps in my phone and car settings and then I had to restart my phone. I am not sure if this is the phone issue or Lexus issue. I hope you'll be able to fix it soon. I know it's very annoying.

We have a 2023 Lexus GX 460 with the same issue. Phone will work in the bottom USB port but not the top. Older iPhones with lightning ports work on both. Dealer replaced the USB port assembly on ours as well. We’ve tested it on a number of other IPhone 15s and all do the same thing. Charge indicator cycles on and off but it never connects. We purchased the Belkin cord recommended by Apple as well as two other data transfer USB to USB C cables. Still have the problem. Lexus dealership says it’s an Apple problem, which seems illogical as it works on the bottom port. Although they indicate they have seen the issue numerous times they have refused to do anything more. Has anyone tried using a USB port analyzer on these cars? I’m curious if the power is different between the two ports.

I had similar problem with 15 and 2021 Lexus RX350 in that the phone would connect and work but my vehicle was not recognized for car play. Several chats with apple and a phone call with senior rep and an engineer with only solution to return the phone and get a new one. Instead I talked to phone salesman and we tried an Apple USB-c to Lightning Adaptor with my old cable which I knew connected to car play. Success. Also disconnected the phone several times and always worked to reconnect car play.
