RAW files become JPG files when transferred from iPhone to Mac

I recently purchased an iPhone Pro 14, mainly because of its capabiity to shoot pictures in RAW. Problem is, when I transfer those RAW pictures onto my MacBook Pro using AirDrop, they become JPG files. If I open a picture on my iPhone and click on the Info icon, it definitely says that it's a RAW file. What am I missing?

Did you by any chance edit the pictures before doing the AirDrop? Apple has documented that will happen if the picture has been edited.
