iPhone 15 Pro Battery Drain Issue

I have bought iPhone 15 pro recently. The expectation is battery should be efficient, but is performing poor than iPhone 11. Especially Findmy app is used all night. The battery went down from 55% to 32%. Please help me to fix this?

Well, I just updated to iOS 17.0.3 and my iPhone 15 Pro 512gb natural titanium is still as warm as ever and the battery has still dropped 15% in one hour …

I talked to someone who works for Apple and they said it’s not gonna get any better that they had better venting and heat dissipation for the 14 pro with the stainless steel and that the A17Pro Chip gets too hot …and titanium doesn’t allow it to disperse. I don’t think any software update is going to make this work. and when you have a hot chip, you’ll have a battery that drains extra fast.

i’m going to further test it tomorrow on Thursday and see how it goes — and then I’m taking it back Friday (within the first 14 days) and getting all my money back. I’m glad I kept my 11 Pro. I would suggest everybody to do this as Friday is your last day to get your money back since it was the first day you could pick it up in the store

this is by all means a massive hardware design defect and there’s no remedying it. I don’t know what Apple‘s gonna do with this one. The only way they can stop it from getting hot is the throttle that A17 chip and the expert I talk to said that’s not even gonna help much. Some units are fine some aren’t. I’m not gonna gamble my $1500 on it again.

In the end, playing with the network connection of the 15 Pro, I have concluded that the battery drain is somehow connected with the GSM/Carrier connection. If I set the phone in AIRPLANE mode, but leave WiFi ON & Bluetooth ON, the drain goes away. In the picture, there are 4 zones:

A: Overnight with all stuff ON, airplane OFF

B: Airplane mode ON, other stuff untouched (other stuff turns OFF automatically when AirPlane is activated).

C: Again, all features ON

D: Airplane mode ON, WiFi ON (forced and checked by using internet), Bluetooth ON, Location ON, Background App Refresh ON.

I slowed my battery drainage down considerably by turn off Bluetooth, selection the shortest duration of screen awake, not letting apps run in the background, changing wallpaper f and much more! I used 50% in 12 hours, it was much worse before I changed the settings! We should not have to change all the settings to prevent battery drainage! Apple needs to come up with a resolution for this equipment flaw with little to no wear and tear on the buyer. Send another new 15 pro and the customer can factory reset the old one and return after transferring data and settings to the new phone!

This is very true turning off the “always on display” does make a difference. The other things I noticed with my iPhone 15 Pro and iOS 17+ was related to ““background app refresh “”and Siri running on everything, writing on every single app in the background. it takes some effort to turn off the “background app refresh” for every single app, even if you thought you switched it off by flipping the one main toggle switch. in reality you have to individually turn off “background app refresh” on every single app individually one-by-one. You can see this in the battery history that apps continue to run in the background for every single app despite flipping that one toggle switch. There are so many things running in the background on this phone and IOS, including Siri. Siri is taking up a tremendous amount of battery drain on the iPhone 15 Pro and turning Siri off for most, everything one-by-one helps with the battery also.

now I get at least 18 hours of battery life from a full charge every time. Give or take. So look closely at “always on display ““, carefully look at “”background app, refresh “for every single app, individually, turn it off, and turn off Siri individually for every single app. This among changing a few other settings, helped my battery a lot.

I tried to delete my original message, to no avail.

What seems to have worked for me:

  • I backed up my iPhone 15 Pro yesterday, then reset it.
  • Turned off "always on."
  • I've been closing apps when I'm finished with them.
  • Turned off auto update for apps.

I charged my phone to 100% last night. It's now 6:45 pm, and my phone is still at 69%. Fingers crossed that this solved my issue. Hopefully, it will work for someone else.

I know it's very frustrating that you have bought a new phone and facing the drainage issue, let me assure you these are very premium devices and its very less likely that we can blame apple for this, however the drainage depends on how you use your iPhone and which power consuming apps, settings are enabled on your phone. While I researched on this issue online and found that there can be various things you should do in order to reduce the drainage, these include, turning off background refresh for certain apps, turning off location services if you are not using it, and force restarting. There are many more other tweaks as well. I can suggest you this guide gave it a read and apply the fixes if this could help: 7 Proven Steps to fix iPhone 15 Pro Battery Drain Issue

I don’t think the first few charge cycles of an Iphone battery see any change in capacity whatsoever. As for restoring new phone from backup and synching settings, pics etc, unless you are talking massive volunes if data a day will see that all done. Location services were my biggest drain. With Safari location setting switched off as soon as I opened any web page the location setting status icon appeared (what gives? Bugs perhaps?) Turning off Location services totally has nade a difference but using maos then requires swithing loc services back on and to precent rinsing battery, turning loc setting back off, hassle! I think exchanging phone a waste of time, clearly Apple have either some Ios bugs to zap or more ominously, the 15 pro is destined to provide pathetic battery life to all who have one. Rumour has it the 16 pro and max will be bigger. If true thatcwill be to accommodate appropriately sized battery perhaps?

No, I hope this is a software issue, because even on battery save and switching back to 60hz does not solve the issue. It miche be a problem from "find my" or a 5G problem,

GPS off might make the problem better, but I almost always need gps, I tried to turn off gps use of most apps and even some system features using the privacy settings.

Also now I am back in an area with good cellphone coverage and the battery holds better.

When I experienced the most drain was in a very crowded area (Milano Duomo Galleria on saturday)

so it is probably an issue with aggressive search of network (mobile network)

but anyways my 14 pro max in the same place same day was NOT affected.

This response is a complete waste of time.: Brand new iphone 15 Pro with no change in usage from my 13 Pro. Yet, here I am, on day 2 of having the phone, googling why my battery drained from 100% at 8AM to 38% by 2pm.
