iPad Pro video stops after playing on TV through USB-C to HDMI, audio continues

I bought a USB C to HDMI cable, connects to the TV perfectly but then after a short period (30 seconds?) the video stops and the audio continues. Reconnecting the cable leads to the exact same every time. Toshiba smart TV.

As described, your USB-C to HDMI cable (presumed to include the required interface adapter/converter) may be failing to properly support HDCP - this being the most common cause of audio with no video.


If you are able, try to test your adapter/cable with another TV - preferably a different model/manufacturer. Otherwise, consider using an Apple Digital AV Multiport Adapter and a regular HDMI 2.0 cable (or better).

Many thanks for the reply. I’m not sure if this is the answer though - the video works for a brief time before stopping? And works again by unplugging and plugging in again.


I have used my iPad and the same cable to the same TV without playing video and it seems to work fine. Googling HDCP sounds like it shouldn’t work at all.


I should also mention the device you added to a link to says it is not available open apple.
