iPhone 15 Pro Max Back Glass Durability

Hello, I’m interested in purchasing an iPhone 15 pro max, I have seen online that this model breaks very easily (back glass breaks with minimal pressure- JerryRigsEverything video). Has anyone else experienced this?

I disagree.

In his videos, he compared it to the iPhone 14, same tests. Significant difference in durability. In fact, the 14 did not break and with more pressure.

Yes, it was deliberately destroyed, 1 test at a time… I’m unaware how else you’d test durability. However, the first test was the back glass. The rest of the tests followed, and most praised.

A LOT of other videos have emerged as well. Popular Mac forums have published articles too. Same observations, and more with the camera falling off after a decent fall. Never in the history of iPhones has this happened, under extreme falls (Off Rooftops).

Pure speculation; I believe it’s a design flaw related to the back glass now being removable, and it will probably be fixed on the iPhone 16.

OP:

If you still get the 15… you’ll probably like it. But take extra precautions. Like a lanyard 😂.

My opinion, find an iPhone 14. It will cost less, performance comparisons are negligible (see tests online), and it has superior durability.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max has the same issue! Mine has broke twice and I researched comments, reviews, and drop test reports. The two latest phones both with the same back have a poorly designed feature that allows the phone backs to easily break due to the use of a inadequate end product.

the Apple 15 models, not sure which ones had a immediate recall due to broken back glass. I can’t locate any information on the iPhone pro max 14.

what did Apple do to correct the back glass to prevent breakages at such a high rate.

Also the representative at Verizon suggested buying the Apples protective clear case with Magsafe… it has cracked needs to be replaced.

What can I do? I had the iPhone 13 previously and not once did the back or front of my phone break!

I have an iPhone 15 Pro, which I understand has the same camera lenses as the 15 Pro Max. Last week one of the lens broke. I have no idea how, it wasn't dropped. Today, a second lends broke while it was in my pocket. I'm positive I didn't drop it. I was playing golf with my kid take pictures regularly, and all of a sudden it was shattered. Doing nothing different that I've done for years with many iPhones, and different phones before that.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we learn in a few months there's some planned obsolescence going on here.

In case no one has figured it out yet the back glass has an internal concave design that leaves a hollow area where it does not touch the titanium casing, leaving it prone to breaking.

This is an intentional design flaw intended to supplement the money Apple is losing out on from people no longer buying Lightning Cablee from them due to having to switch to USB C.

Gotta make sure profits meet or exceed iPhone 14’s one way or another, right? Sell glass screens.
