I finally spoke with someone in support from Apple. I’m not sure if this works yet as I only did it on my iPad Pro. This morning when I thought it would it wouldn’t. Then I realized I needed to do it on my iPhone as well.
Here’s what support had me do:
As I said I have done this to my iPhone as well after checking it and will see if it works tomorrow morning coming back from walking the dog.
mberan, did those steps end up working for you? I remember you saying you were going to test them out the following day.
The same occurred to me, after I update to iOS 17.0.1. From that point, localization services in Home App doesn't work anymore. I notified that to Apple Support (also via X), but they aren't able to fix.
I just noticed this on my phone too. I was actually wondering if maybe that was why some of my automations stopped working. Specifically the Arriving Home audio ones.. I was going to uninstall the Home app from my iPhone and see if that wiped it out. Anyone done this yet?
I know, I’m a little nervous, too. Geez, it’s like you get all your smart devices loaded in there and get everything set up and you just hold your breath that the lightest breeze isn’t going to come and blow through and topple everything over! 😂😬
I have the exact same issue. Geofencing stopped working with the new update. I’ve set up a “scene” but unlike the geofencing I have to ask Siri to turn lights on as opposed to prior they turned on when I got within the radius. Does Apple know?
If you only have the one icon then it should work. At least that’s how it seems. For some reason with the recent software updates some of us have 2 and that’s caused the issue. I’m going to call Apple with the number that I was given and hopefully get something fixed.
Yes, everything else tied to geofencing still works fine (lights, door locks/unlocks, etc.) with the exception of triggering the audio. I’ve tried to set up a new automation for this and select a different playlist to no avail.
Oops, thought I was responding to another thread. Glad it worked for you. Doesn’t work for me for whatever reason based on those instructions I gave you. That’s how I set it up initially too and it worked fine, but it’s since stopped working, hence the original visit to this thread.
I have. That solution has worked in the past, but unfortunately doesn’t seem to be working this time around. Still not triggering the audio automations, even after a redo. I’ll do it again though. You never can tell..
Unfortunately no! I haven’t had time to get back with support. They left me an email with a higher support level and my case number if it didn’t. Hopefully this week I can call. I’ll let all know.
Interestingly enough, I think I found a fix. At least this worked for me.. and surprisingly, it seemingly has nothing to do with the fact that there are two Home icons in my Locations Services. I have automations set to respond when I arrive home and was having trouble with the audio ones triggering. The lighting ones were fine. Well, in addition to having an automation play audio, I also had SCENES set to adjust the volume within the automation. When I removed the scenes from the automation, everything is working as usual again. The workaround to adjust the volume of the various speakers was to create a SEPARATE automation that just contains the scenes that adjust the volume of the various speakers. When the scenes were mixed in with the accessories in one automation, it didn't work. But having two separate automations, one with the accessories (speakers) and another with the scenes (volume adjustment) seems to have solved the issue 🤷 Now when I arrive home two separate automations will run; one that plays the playlist on all the speakers, and another that adjusts the volumes of the various speaker pairs. I hope that makes sense, & that this helps anyone else trying to achieve similar results.
I’ve set an automation of “When anyone arrives home” for the morning. That seems like it’s working. It’s set only between 5 am and 7 am. I don’t really need it after or before. I still have my automation for the same but with “Night” as the setting and not a specific time range. That’s worked but only on occasion. I’m going to see what happens when I get home later if not then I’ll put a specific time range on it and see.
Yes. And by doing it this way it allows my wife to use it separately. She arrived home and she said the hall lights went on as set up. The “old” set up didn’t allow for that. Plus they came on again when I arrived.
