Automations / Shortcuts / Siri… in my experience are all completely unreliable since iOS17.
Sorry, no solutions here, just a list of some of the “bugs” I’m experiencing.
- Simple on/off automations for Lights which worked previously, no longer work
- Lights frequently turn on at 70% brightness instead of 100% - Adaptive lighting has never been used on any bulb
- “Siri Turn On / Off the Lights in room xx ”…. Confirmation tone, but no action
- I’m looking in the Home App at two configured, activated Automations which have just appeared…a) When The First Person Arrives Home’, b) When The Last Person Leaves Home’. I don’t / have never used or created any Automations which are Location dependent
- Some Shortcurs / Automation's will work with Verify whilst building, but then fail when implemented, unable to discover why, so I just abandon
- Frequently need to ask twice to get Siris attention
- Several radiators (named Radiator Room Xx) which are controlled via TRV’s. Which Siri has had no problem with until iOS17. Now it’s….
“Siri Turn Off the Radiator in the Hallway” ….”Sorry, I don’t find anything like that in your Home”…
OK, so I’ll rename the TRV to Heating….
“Siri Turn Off the Heating in the Hallway” ….Responds with “On It!, followed by a confirmation tone”. However, nothing happens. (other than the false, misleading confirmation tone)
Try for a second time….”Siri Turn Off the Heating in the Hallway” ….Viola, the Automation worked as expected
What is interesting is, requests to turn off TRVs in other rooms are actioned OK. Even several which are in different rooms but Grouped. It appears Siri just sometimes doesn’t like the TRV in the Hallway.
Additionally, I’m tired of checking and resetting, settings reconfigured by iOS updates! PRIVACY & SECURITY > LOCATION SERVICES > SYSTEN SERVICES >
- Significant Locations
- IPhone Analytics
- Routing & Traffic
…Are all set to ON.
The last 3 updates, gave all reconfigured these settings. Why? This has been widely reported since iOS17, so why are updates still being pushed with known bugs?!
More debugging - less Emojis!
“It just works”… sadly that time has passed. The only thing you can rely on these days is Bugs.
It’s no longer fun or efficient. Just tiresome. My whole Apple experience these days is frustrating, tedious and far from enjoyable. Second guessing, fault analysis and workarounds are now a daily activity.
Currently trying to work out why my phone no longer makes a noise when I receive an iMessage. Just discovered another Post, seems I’m not alone.
