My Iphone xs max is not charging after ios 17 upgrade

To make sure we're on the same page, prior to the update your phone also would not charge unless you manually turned it off and then tried to charge it?

If so, given that it now won't charge on iOS 17, this may be a hardware issue with your device. We'd recommend trying a different Lightning cable, and charging port or brick to see if there is any change.

If there is not, contact Apple Support for options to have the iPhone inspected.

Same problem here. iPhone XS Max 256 GB, it all started with iOS 17 and occurs with the 20W USB-C charger (everything is official, and keeping the iPhone updated to the latest iOS). My battery health is 89% because I replaced it months ago with a original one at the Apple store but the problem occurred also before the change.

The only -temporary- solution is to force restart the iPhone and use the older 5W charger. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM

Hi guys, basically it works I tried to use laptop as power adaptor instead of the original adaptor or power bank with my ipad cable. However, I am not sure if this works for you? Else, may try to switch off the optimised battery charging and then recharge with laptop. May be further boosted with laptop charging, if that still doesn't work. That's all I tried and hopefully it helps!

I have exactly the same problem. iPhoneXS Max was charging without any problems before upgrade to iOS 17.0.3. Now I need to shut it down and then it will start charging. I tried multiple blocks and cables and have the same results. iPhone 11 Pro is charging without problems with the same blocks and cables.

Call me crazy, community manager person, but if someone’s phone is charging perfectly fine and then suddenly isn’t after and only after updating to iOS17, I feel like that’s proof that it’s decidedly not a hardware issue.

17 is messing up peoples phones and it needs to be fixed yesterday. Stop farming money off of people taking their phones in to the Apple Store.

The problem is all over the internet, everyone is saying after ios 17 they are facing problems charging.I had ios 14. two days ago, never updated it because I believe you guys make the phone worse for us to buy new ones, plus less privacy. It was a conspiracy theory after I decided to update it. Never had problems with charging my phone, after ios 17 I have to plug and unplug it many times so it start charging. Concidence? Nah. I think I was right about you guys making the phone worse, but guess what let apple know that they will lose money for that because we’re not buying it anymore :)

Hey! Me too. After 17.1.1 charging stopped. My last try was to shut down to prevent total burn out, and when i restarted it, it started to charge. I was so scared. How poor quality iOS17 is!

12 pro max same will not charge from port used diff cables, adaptors, after update to 17.1 stopped charging touch screen would not work, will charge from charging pad but have to take otterbox case off to charge.

My iphone xs max is not charging it stays at 6% while plugged into outlet. Ever since the last update this problem has surfaced anyone find out what happened with tht past update and how to fix our xs max phones.

I have the same problem too with the XS MAX. I never had this charging issue before iOS17. I'm disappointed at apple for making XS MAX compatible with the latest IOS but never bother to fix this issue after 17.1.2. I have no problems with my 14 pro max at the moment because its a new device. But apple c'mon!!! My 6s is still alive to this day but doesn't have charging bugs.

I'm having trouble charging since iOS17. Plugging in and out lets me charge but any movement in my apple made charging cables (only cables i own) will cease the charge. Wireless charging works just fine.
