Can't open websites with QR code as told not connected to the internet (when I am)

When I try to open a website by scanning a QR code I can't open it because I always get an error message saying that I am not connected to the internet even though I am connected. How do I fix this? This is with an iPhone 6S using iOS 15.7.7

We appreciate you clarifying this for us, AndrewJ99,

Do you experience this behavior while you're connected to a specific network?

If this isn't network related, you may need to troubleshoot Safari as outlined here: If Safari isn't loading websites or quits on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

"Clear website data

You can clear website data occasionally to improve Safari performance.

  1. Go to Settings > Safari.
  2. Tap Clear History and Website Data.
  3. Tap Clear History and Data to confirm."

If you have a VPN installed on your iPhone, you may consider temporarily removing the VPN as it could impact your internet connection. You can learn more here: Check VPN (Virtual Private Network) and third-party software to help resolve network connectivity issues - Apple Support

We hope this helps you.

Kind regards.

Hello AndrewJ99,

We understand that you're having an issue with QR codes, and you already checked out the resource on how to scan a QR code with the iPhone camera. Let's complete the following steps to see if you experience the same behavior:

"Open the Code Scanner from Control Center

  1. Go to Settings  > Control Center, then tap the Insert button next to Code Scanner.
  2. Open Control Center, tap the Code Scanner, then position iPhone so that the code appears on the screen.
  3. To add more light, tap the flashlight to turn it on."

If the issue persists, connect with Apple for further assistance. You can reach out to them here:

All the best.

Thank you Ryane77 but unfortunately you've misunderstood the issue. The phone reads the QR code and tries to open the website but fails to do so with an error message that the phone is not connected to the internet (when it is). This only occurs when trying to open a website through a QR code. The phone connects to the internet without problem in other situations.
