Shared number’s spreadsheet cannot be opened/edited by others

Yes, the file is on iCloud, yes I have “anyone with link” and “can make changes” are checked.

According to Apple support page, this spreadsheet should be editable by anyone with the link, but the several people I have shared it with said they just see the lock icon and cannot edit it.

What am I not doing correctly here?

I use Numbers 99.9% of the time on a Mac, where you can just open a file and start modifying data right away. On the rare occasion I have to work with a file on an iPad I'm always frustrated at first because I forget that there is an extra step, the black EDIT button in the top right of the screen.

So is it possible that the people who cannot edit your spreadsheet are simply not aware of that?

Not the same thing. It looks like you're using the online version of Numbers within iCloud.com in Safari. I'd say most people would use the native Numbers app on their iPad or iPhone and probably select the file with the native Files app. Download them from the App Store if you don't have them.

In the native Numbers app there is a black EDIT button in the top right of the screen, and if you don't press it the spreadsheet is in read-only mode.

I do use the native app, the screenshot was from following the link I sent others.

When I open from my app, it just opens to an editable spreadsheet, there is no “edit” button. But I assumed since I am the author that it may look different to others than my native app. I’ve tried to “sandbox” it on my phone to see how others would see it, but I guess since I’m signed in to iCloud, it just opens up the file automatically.

Regardless, with the permissions checked the way I have it, there shouldn’t be any problem. I cant believe that all 6 or so people are so ignorant that they couldn’t open the file, but I guess I’ve seen worse before.
